It's a money-grabbing attraction.
It's a money-grabbing attraction. Going up, you can easily go by the stairs and save yourself the 6€ fair. When up, you need to pay another 5€ to go to the view-balcony. Better go to the castle. You see more, pay less and have way-way better views.Guest review byRNetherlands - 10.0
The only down-side for Santa Justa Elevator was the 2.5hr...
The only down-side for Santa Justa Elevator was the 2.5hr wait to go up the steep climb. The ride is a 5-min ride max but we were waiting for more than 15-20 mins between each ride. When we complained about the long wait to the lift attendant, he advised that he was sticking to the time schedule... which was practically ridiculous. For the same view, on the hill with SJE to your left, cross the street and take a regular elevator inside a small shop (selling cork goods and jewelry when I saw it last). Something unusual. The oldest waterdriven elevator in the world. My tip is it gets busy early so get up early and be ready about 15 minutes before it opens at 7am in the morning...
