The location near the ocean was beautiful. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We even got a free wine tasting! The room was clean and practical. We could park right in front of our room. You can see a large sea lion colony in the vicinity, and the Hearst castle is also recommended.

Do not miss this out of your itinerary when you visit California the place is amazing. I would recommend staying close by in one of the hotels to be the first to visit in the morning. This attraction is really busy.

San Simeon has to be one of my favourite stops along the...

San Simeon has to be one of my favourite stops along the California HWY1 Coast Drive. Hearst Castle is a must, but also, the Sea Lions at Seal Point are also part of the main attraction of this sleepy seaside jewel in the crown of California.

A very decent short stay hotel. Clean, quiet, and very close to walk down to the beach, 15 min drive to elephant seals. Easy 1 min drive to multiple ok restaurants. Staff was friendly, and the pool was clean. I felt the rate was very cheap for how comfortable our stay was. This part of town is remote, only hotels and a few restaurants. Good for roadtrip stops, or visiting Hearst Castle and the coast, but not much else around.

The location is convenient for both Hearst Castle and Cambria stays. Several restaurants are close by that you can walk to. Just a few miles up the road is Hearst Castle and the Sea Lions. The rooms also have air conditioning, a MUST when I travel. Too many hotels in the area do NOT have air conditioning. Great Continental breakfast with pastries, hot chocolate, coffee, tea, fruit.

Comfortable hotel and decent simple breakfast. Beds are a little soft and drapes and entrance sofas could be updated. But otherwise the hotel is good and spacious. Close to Cambria and Hearst Castle. Our TV did not work and the staff tried to get it to function several times. Checkin was efficient.

Access to the beachfront walkways, fire pits, gathering areas of the Cavalier Resort next door (its sister property). Enjoyed sitting watching the waves after dinner. Good budget option for visiting Hearst Castle-10 minute drive & San Simeon. Clean accommodation-comfy bed and hot shower. Loved having the Cavalier Restaurant next door for breakfast and supper. Food was great! Hotel staff w were friendly! Overall great option!

The motel is an older facility right off Hwy 1. The rooms are old but are comfortable and clean and generally well cared for. The room refrigerator is generously sized and there were adequate outlets for our CPAPs. For those that don't need fancy and prefer not to pay top dollar for a place to sleep for a night, the Silver Surf motel fits the bill. This was actually our second stay at the hotel on trips up Hwy 1. It is conveniently located several miles south of Hearst Castle and the elephant seal nursery beach.
