Very wonderful accommodation just outside Dambulla. The boss welcomed us with a drink and looked after us the whole time. The boss met the individual needs of each of us. The breakfasts were plentiful and always with a nice comment about Sri Lankan cuisine. Thank you for a wonderful stay, we felt very happy, friendly and safe here.

This place was an absolute experience! The views were seriously breathtaking and most of all if you are looking to relax, connect with nature and have the best time disconnecting this is the ideal place. A tree house has wide open windows which can be kept wide open (mosquito nets over the beds, not many mosquitos though). During the day, it is possible to encounter birds or squirrels; at night, to see fireflies. So, the experience translates into living and sleeping in the canopy. The green forest-like scenery is the greatest but not the only value of the place. Other benefits of the place are: - the location is conveniently very close to the main attractions: Dambulla cave temple, Sigiriya, Minneriya National Park and Pidurangala Rock - the safari jeep hire (with the driver) to conveniently visit the Minneriya park Probably naturally to Sri Lankans, the hosts are very kind and caring and love good humour. Rooms are kept clean and toilets/showers are well maintained. The place offers Sri Lankan food and also the possibility of a cooking demonstration/workshop.

The room is very spacious with a big and confortabme bed. The small villa is surounded by a beautiful garden. The bathroom is nice too with an amazing warm and strong shower. The owner is super friendly and helpful with everything. If you are traveling alone and want to meet people I suggest to go to the nearby Roys Vila and join their activities.

Machcha Lodge was one of our favorite stays in Sri Lanka. Kamal was the kindest, most generous host and was eager to help with anything we needed. Our family of 4 took both of the rooms. The rooms were clean, and the outside garden was lovely to sit in in the morning. Kamal made us a beautiful breakfast that we ate outside in the garden every morning. It was fun eating breakfast while watching the fantastic birds and peacocks in the garden! The wifi was a bit spotty, but that seems to be a common problem in Sri Lanka and not specifically with this property. We rented scooters through Kamal, and that was awesome because it allowed us to explore the village and towns around independently. One of the main pluses of Machcha Lodge is that it is next door to Roy's Villa - a fun backpackers place that organizes lots of fun group activities, cooking classes, safaris, hikes - and we were able to join on their activities, use the pool and have some of our meals there.

Everything here is great. The room is large and very clean. The view to lion rock is amazing. The personnel is very nice and the breakfast was delicious.
