We had an unforgettable experience at Ruboni Community Camp! The room was spacious, impeccably clean, and equipped with a shower that provided hot water – a true luxury after a day of exploring. Falling asleep to the soothing sounds of nature and the gentle rush of the nearby river was nothing short of magical. The food was absolutely exceptional. Every dish was a delight, but the pepper steak was a standout – tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Unlike the typical overcooked steak, this one was a true culinary highlight, paired with fresh, vibrant salads. The forest walk organized by the camp was another highlight. We were lucky enough to spot three different chameleons, including the fascinating three-horned chameleon, as well as the black-and-white colobus monkey. It was a unique and enriching experience to connect with the local wildlife. What made our stay even more meaningful was knowing that part of the proceeds goes directly to supporting the local community. Ruboni Community Camp is a shining example of sustainable tourism done right. We highly recommend it to anyone seeking an authentic and memorable experience in Uganda!

As a tour operator, I booked this place for my clients. The place was super nice and the communication was very effective. We reached a little late and found Eunice and other two staff waiting for us. This was super amazing. We spent three nights at the property. Every night Hippos came in the compound to feed on every night. Hippos come with their young ones. I saw a whole family of hippos. 😜Mama, Papa and baby hippo. They come twice a nice at night Between 20:00hrs - 21:30 and then come back between 2:30 - 4:00 The place is very close to Kazinga channel boats and few km to Kasenyi gate in Queen Elizabeth national park. Since am a Birder, I could always start my birding while in the compound. I took enough Pictures of birds. The birds you are likely to see are;; Red necked spurfowl, laughing dove, mourning dove, snowy crowned Robin chat, white browed robin chat, black lores babblers, pied crow, marabou stork, village weavers, black headed Gonolek, Dideric cuckoo, ....... Then as you join the main road, there's a bush where you can see variety of birds.

The location is superb. The view of the Rwenzori mountains and the plain is spectacular. The guided walk up to the waterfall was interesting and beautiful. The guide was very knowledgeable and it was interesting to learn about the local culture. It was a calm and restorative place and it was good to learn the campsite is part of the community and not simply a profit making enterprise.

This is a magical place! You are staying in the heart of the national park - elephants, hippos and plenty of birds at your doorstep! Sunset and dawn will give the place a magical touch! This is a truly astonishing place. Staying here is an adventure & you support the local community which is living in the national park. This is a very important contribution to nature conservation - it is so important that the local communities benefit from national parks & not only the owners of the high end (and high price) lodges. But be prepared to be very close to nature - if you panic when hippos & elephants walk through the camp this might not be the right place for you. Otherwise it is totally worth every dollar, euro or ugx. The huts are super comfortable, clean and well maintained. Of course it is not a super luxury place - but honestly who needs that if nature provides all that beauty. You can get to the camp with bodas or you can get picked up by a driver (around 80k). The drive to the camp is a mini safari on its own. Tip: We made the mistake to book a safari in advance from an company in fort Portal - rather arrange something with the locals - our neighbours did a boot trip on the lake with a local fisherman & they loved it! You can cook your own meals if you are traveling on budget & know how to cook on fire :) Thanks for this experience!

The cottages are very spacious. Meals are good. They provide accommodation for 55 K for drivers. The hotel is opposite of the lake, and first morning it was a hippo eating grass all the morning behind the swimming pool. Hotel has a small pool. The local guide Bright- working in the hotel is very nice and useful. He can help to organize better the time of your stay in the area. The manager attend us, Mr. Julius is very effective, patient and nice. The lake George boat trip is very recommendable. The Queen Elisabeth park, seemed to us, much poor of animals, than Murchison National park. The fire by the pool at night was very nice. We suggest to do it every night.

This is a wonderful project by and for the community of Kikorongo, and it is an inspiring experience to see how its tireless staff face every challenge without losing their smiles: No water or electricity mains and yet they have a beautiful garden and comfy rooms and tents; limited ingredients but tasty dishes every day... I have sung with them, danced with them, walked with them, and thoroughly enjoyed the company and the lessons of one of kindest people I have met in my many travels. Thank you so much Jason, Dennis, Kutafi, Felex, Lillian and Karen. In my heart forever!
