From the cute little huts to the super kind and capable staff, we were happy about everything! We want to point out the excellent organization of our pick up and drive by Yusuf, the welcome at the lodge, then the core piece the jungle trekking with Andi who was so knowledgeable about orang-utans and the rain forest. The food at the lodge was great too.
Bukit Lawang is a place where things still seem intact and tourists are decent and treated kindly too. If it wasn‘t so far, I would go back in a heartbeat. It was an exceptionnal experience!

They arrange everything so well and take such good care of you, from the airport to your stay at the Garden Inn and especially during the jungle trekking. We did the two days one night trekking with Jerry, Rudy & Abdi. The guides are very funny, knowledgeable about everything and Abdi’s food was amazing! The trekking was tough but we had so much fun and saw many orangutans and other animals. Unforgettable experience and definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Indonesia! After the trekking we spent another night at the Garden Inn and did the village tour with Pindu, perfect way to learn more about the local community! He also let us make our own tempeh and gado gado, which was a lot of fun. If you are planning to visit Bukit Lawang, we would recommend to book everything with the Garden Inn team. Thank you for having us!!

We had a truly wonderful stay at Frenkie’s villa in Krui. The place was beautiful, comfortable, and perfectly set up for a relaxing holiday. But what made our time extra special was the kindness and thoughtfulness of Frenkie and his wife. They surprised me with a cake and doughnuts for my birthday, which was such a heartwarming gesture and made me feel incredibly welcome and cared for. I’m so grateful for their generosity—it really made the experience unforgettable. I couldn’t recommend this villa and these amazing hosts enough. Thank you, Frenkie!

I stayed in one of the cabins and enjoyed the cleanliness, the hot water in the shower, the excellent WiFi, the exceptional view from the back porch, and the incredible hospitality of the whole family.

One of the most beautiful locations to stay near Padang. Within the lush forest and nearby a beautiful piece of coast. The wooden houses give a very natural feeling. Furthermore, very friendly staff that are super helpful.
Great cabins to stay. These cabins and the whole property look great. Don’t expect a huge 5-star hotel, but a cozy lodge with 4 cabins. Jay is a great host. He can also arrange transport from and to Medan (airport), and excursions to the jungle (e.g. 2 day jungle tour with sleeping in the jungle).
Small lodge with a couple of cabins. Cabins and rooms are nicely designed. Friendly staff. Great atmosphere.
Great lodges with a superb view very close to the jungle. Great for jungle trekking start and end point. Lovely, friendly and helpful staff and owner. Going out of their way to help out and ensure a pleasant stay. We would have loved to stay longer.
Everything needed for a relaxing budget vacation was available. Comfortable bed, amazing view, friendly owner. Meals were provided (banana pancakes for breakfast included, lunch and dinner brought by boat at reasonable price). Snorkeling in front of lodge and at nearby islands was good.
The lodges are very pretty and there is a cute waterfront cafe where Tia makes the best food. Tia is the best and together with her friends she makes up a very pleasant, fun and welcoming stay. See u soon Tia!
The lodge is a real gem on the jungle border. Everything was great, we liked our bungalow, especially the balcony which was a real door to wild nature, yes, with animals visitors included :) The guide from the hotel was highly professional. BTW, a fruit breakfast which the guide made for us during the trekking was soo cute.
We’ve had an amazing stay at Sumatra Ecolodge! It is obviously no luxury ( no hot water, almost no reception, no GENERATORS), but in exchange you get the pure relaxing experience in the middle of nowhere, where you can spend your time just sitting on a beach watching turtles taking a breath on the water surface. I wish we could spend a couple more days. Rakai is a great host and a person to talk to.
The lodges are beautifull and clean! The staff was so friendly and kind. They helped us with everything. We booked the jungle trekking tour at the Green Travelodge. It was amazing with our tourgide Dino. He told us a lot about the jungle and the Oerang- Oetangs. We booked the two days/ one night tour. At the campsite chef Adan cooked a delicious dinerpauze for us. Also the breakfast and lunch was so nice!
