With pool views, Eco Villas Watamu is located in Watamu and has a restaurant, a shared lounge, bar, garden, year-round outdoor pool and terrace. Both WiFi and private parking are available at the lodge free of charge. Welcoming staff who were available 24-7 to help. Excellent initiative to organise meals and offered take out when requested. Room was beautifully presented with comfy bed including mosquito net, washing supplies in bathroom, seating, fridge and coffee/tea facility provided. Refill glass bottle provided, with refill water at bar. Very clean and secure room. Hot water available with with but not needed because cold shower essential for hot weather. Private seating area outside of room, with hammock rocking bed for resting in day. Spacious social and eating space with games and books. Plenty of shade and a cool breeze. Staff always working to keep floors, paths and pool clear of falling leaves, preparing food etc. Thorough cleaning of room every day, turning down bed service daily. Help to book trips and Tuktuk’s or advice on what to do in Watamu and area. Julie and her team were amazing!

Located at Kilifi Creek, just 3 km outside of town and surrounded by a community forest, Distant Relatives Ecolodge and Backpackers features a secluded beach area, a restaurant and outdoor pool.

The lodge offers different accommodation types, ranging from family and double rooms to beds in a dormitory or safari tents. The spacious rooms feature custom made furniture and shelving. The waterproof tents feature a bed-side table and solar lights. The staff at Distant Relatives were absolutely the best! I stayed during the low season of the hostel when there weren’t too many other people around which was great for relaxing, but Maureen, Rose, Mohammed and Derrick were all amazing in making sure I was comfortable and never lonely the whole time during my stay. They even went so far as to help me fix my laptop cable when it broke! Paolo the manager of the hostel was also super friendly and kind, I can’t state enough how lovely everyone is and how comfortable I felt as a solo female traveller at the hostel 😊 I had the tree dorm to myself pretty much the whole week I was there too, the dorms are lovely and very charming. The outdoor shower is also wonderful, so long as you don’t mind a few monkeys spying on you. The location is very close to the beach and cheap to get to, and the walk down to the creek is also very convenient. The food in the restaurant was also great, thank you Distant Relatives for a great stay 😊
