Thank you Sook Peng and Fred for helping my stay feels like home! They have arranged the transfer quite seamlessly, I got picked up from the hotel early morning to the pier and then to the island. The view is truly amazing as the lodge is right in front of the sea. They have everything you need for this Island: kayaks, snorkel masks, beach mats and coconuts (and beer which is a rare commodity in the island)! Thank you Sook Peng for the wonderful breakfast, lunch and dinner. It’s wonderful to enjoy a hearty home-cooked meal by the sea. I also get to taste some delicious farm-to-table vegetables they’ve grown from their aquaponics farm ♥️ I’ve enjoyed my time on the island, there’s a dive centre 5-min walk from the lodge and it’s convenient if you’d like to join a dive or two. My room is right in front of the sea with a little garden, sun lounge area and a private entrance to the beach. You’re surrounded by nature and animals, I’ve seen cats, cows, tree frogs, big green turtles and more. Just be prepared for mosquitos at night, you can spray the room before you leave for dinner, I’ve also bought a “Deep Woods” repellent and some repellent wristbands which comes in quite handy. There’s no aircon in the room but the island breeze does help, the room is well-ventilated and there’s a fan and cooling machine in the room. Truly an amazing getaway, I must come back again!

North Borneo Railway is 35 km from the lodge, while International Technology & Commercial Centre Penampang - ITCC is 35 km away. Kota Kinabalu International Airport is 32 km from the property. The location was out of town but right on the beach. The beach area in front of the accommodation was clean and free from plastic. Such a wonderful thing in Malaysia. I observed the owner doing a rubbish picking from the beach. It is wonderful to see someone who cares about their environment. The accommodation is built from shipping containers and is well done.

Asian and halal breakfast options are available at the lodge. At Hawun Valley Kiulu you will find a restaurant serving Asian cuisine. A halal option can also be requested. Didn’t expect the room come with little pantry with ricecooker, water kettle, and stove to cook. Plates, cups and utensil for cooking also provided. But they only allow Halal food ya. There is fridge also. Room is very clean and love the sweet pink color room😆 pool is not too deep and have lovely warm temperature. This place is well maintain.

Guests at the lodge can enjoy an Asian or a halal breakfast. This has become one of my favourite destinations during my trip to Sabah, Borneo. The moment we arrived we were warmly welcomed by the staff and were offered refreshments like tea, fruit and other nice sweets. The room was spacious and beautifully designed and it made me feel at home. I also appreciated that the staff already turned on the AC which made the arrival process even better. The sunrise and sunset were beautiful and wish we could have spent another night if it was up to my travel itinerary. Moreover, we were able to do our laundry here and the staff folded and ironed it without any surcharge, such kindness! The food was very good including both dinner and breakfast, it was like my grandma would have made it. Overall, I would come back here again if I am ever given the opportunity.

Set atop a 100 metre hill overlooking the Kinabatangan Forest Reserve, The Last Frontier Boutique Resort is located in Bilit, and is located a 2 hour drive from the beautiful Sandakan.

This property features rooms that provide towels and bed linen. The en suite bathroom comes with free toiletries. I cannot rate this place highly enough. Firstly the staff were the nicest bunch of people, who genuinely care that the guests have a great trip, and are passionate about the environment and the wildlife. Secondly, this is the only place in the area actually inside the jungle, rather than on the river. And that matters because you're much more likely to see an Orang utan in the wild staying here. We were lucky enough to see one, and the guys running the place were overjoyed for us. It was a truly breathtaking moment. And we saw monitor lizards and Hornbills causally wandering/ flying around. The guys running the place could not do enough for us. Also the food was great, and included. Travel is quite a hobby for me, I have been travelling the world regularly for over 30 years now and I have stayed in a lot of places, from luxury hotels to eco-resorts etc. This rates as high as any experience I have had anywhere. I wish there were more places run this well and with this much passion in the world.

Bayu Senja Lodge features garden views, free WiFi and free private parking, located in Kundasang.

The lodge offers a flat-screen TV and a private bathroom with free toiletries, a hairdryer and bidet. For added convenience, the property can provide towels and bed linen for an extra charge. Amazing view and location, rooms were clean, facilities were great. Overall very very good

At the lodge you will find a restaurant serving Chinese, Malaysian and Grill BBQ cuisine. Vegetarian and halal options can also be requested. The amazing staff personalized my whole stay with what I like to eat and which animals I want to see today. I felt very special because of their highest level customer service. The place is located in the middle of the jungle, so you can get all the animals coming to your door. I got civets, bats and broadbill birds. The food is amazing and the whole experience is great. The place just reopened so all the bedding and towels are freshly new, the same with boat and life jackets. My bed was hard, but I really liked it this way. There is internet in the restaurant/ chilling area.

The breakfast offers buffet, à la carte or American options. At the lodge you will find a restaurant serving Steakhouse, local and Asian cuisine. Vegetarian, dairy-free and halal options can also be requested. Very very well organised and friendly staff! Super cool facility and a Pool to cool down after a hot day!

Located in Kundasang in the Sabah region, Nulu View Cabin provides accommodation with free private parking.

Some accommodation includes a terrace with mountain views, a fully equipped kitchen and a private bathroom with bidet. This place had a beautiful view of Mt. Kinabatangan and the owners were really nice.

Featuring sea views, Maglami-lami Water House in Semporna features accommodation and a restaurant.

There is a private bathroom with bidet in all units, along with free toiletries and slippers.

The lodge offers a sun terrace. Warm greeting by the staffs upon arrival. Snorkling was included in the stay with gears and life jackets provided. One of their security staff offered to help take wonderful pictures for me and my family. Water was clear with lots of marine life. Was lucky to see a huge turtle swim by on our last day. Do prepare 100rm per adult and 50rm (kids) for a round-trip boat transfer at semporna.
