The views from the Inn over the bay are stunning especially at the extremes of daylight. Night time is Dark Skies and reveals the magnificence of the Southern hemisphere for the stargazer. Breakfast offers fresh fruits from their own orchard including bananas and plums and homemade granola. This is followed by made from scratch hot breakfast items, homemade breads and cakes. Excellent strong coffee is available to start your day, and juice. Our room was historically allotted to the “housekeeper” set apart from the main house with a private entrance and porch commanding great views of the bay. The Wi-Fi performed flawlessly; water pressure is good with plenty of hot water. However, Russell is in a drier area of New Zealand and dependent upon rainwater, so you are encouraged to be judicious in your usage and conserve to the best of your ability. There is an honor wine bar in the kitchen fridge with a mixture of local NZ wines available for purchase (by the Bottle) at very reasonable prices…NOT the usual markups that one encounters while traveling. The hosts Peter & Greg were outstanding in personality and knowledge of the local area making for an excellent respite in a great location

Shipwreck Bay Beach is 1.2 km from the lodge. Shower was impeccably clean and powerful with hot water, staff were incredibly friendly and location was stunning. Located in a town full of the friendliest locals.

Windsurfing, diving and snorkelling are possible within the area, and the lodge offers a private beach area. We were met by our hostess, and a calming sounds of the sea. Given the heat during our travel to get to Mangonui, the stay was healing and discreetly private (we were'nt isolated) We were within close proximity to our extended whanau too which was a plus. Cleanliness was excellent Thank you for your manaakitanga (hospitality and care).

Towels and bed linen are provided in the lodge. Very special environment . We saw native birds and heard kiwis. Staff were kind and facilities were great . Bed was exceptionally comfortable . Facilities is very high quality and balcony with comfortable chairs is lovely to stay all day. Especially, hot comfortable water from shower is amazing. Around the accommodation, there is a playground and sea shore of course beautiful.
