Haran the host was the most helpful we have met. He arranged everything from tours, places to visit and where the best food places to eat. When asked about where to eat out on our final night, he decided to cook us a meal and it was delicious. Breakfasts were outstanding each morning with fresh fruit and home cooked Sri Lankan Jaffna tucker.

The best thing about staying here is the host and his staff. Haran was so helpful in answering our many questions and had great suggestions for places to go to and restaurants to eat at. It was fascinating hearing the history of the residence. The Sri Lankan breakfast was superb - very tasty indeed, and on our last morning, Haran met us at the train station with fresh breakfast and lunch for our trip.

Our host Mathu was very accommodating to our needs, even allowing a later checkout for us. Thambu Illam is beautiful and luxurious. We slept great in the comfortable bed and the bathroom was very nice too.

Exceptional service, assistance with dining options, hiring of scooter, booking of coach. And so much more, the facilities and staff exceeded our expectations. Escorted us to the bus terminal on departure and provided us with a surprise lunch pack.

The property is a small, beautifully restored historic villa. This means the service is personalised, with staff very attentive to the needs of their guests. The food was absolutely outstanding and we enjoyed trying local Jaffna specialties. We also loved having a pool to cool off in at the end of a hot day exploring. There was good information provided which outlined the history of Jaffna and of the villa.
