Everything about it. The moment you enter the Ryokan, how welcoming the staff, being served nice cold welcome drinks and hot towels as the check in process happened at the sofa and not at a counter. This Ryokan though small in size provides the homely feel. The meals (dinner and breakfast) were both excellent. We enjoyed it very much. The public bath was nicely decorated too. The owners of the Ryokan definitely placed a lot of efforts to it's design, decorations etc. My husband and I wished we were staying another night instead of our overnight stay. We will return.

The place was amazing. Beautiful and large room, very comfortable. We absolutely loved the food, especially the Yamagata wagyu! It was delicious and the meals were so beautiful and plentiful. We bought many items from the hotel gift shop - they carry very nice souvenirs. Rooftop outdoor private onsen for free - an amazing addition to an already wonderful stay.

Magnificent stay in this charming ryokan. From the irori and lit torches greeting us at the entrance, to the sumptuous kaiseki meal and lovely onsen, everything was perfectly traditional and inspiring.

Absolutely amazing food! The whole experience was fantastic and I can’t recommend it enough. The onsen was lovely especially the outdoor one. There isn’t a lot of English spoken but that didn’t matter. The staff were so kind and really made our stay perfect.

This was the most elegant and restful stay of my life. Food is incredible - deserves a bib gourmand! Rooms are large and comfortable with a view. Onsen is lovely. The best is the free alcohol and hot drink service in the evenings around the fireplace. Definitely stay here if you can! It’s once in a lifetime type stuff

Featuring traditional Japanese hot springs known as ‘onsen’, these hotels allow you to take a relaxing soak in therapeutic geothermal waters. The healing properties of each onsen will vary depending on its location, with ‘kuroyu’ black water known for its positive effects on skin.
