The thing we appreciated most was the hospitality -- the staff were very attentive and helpful, from the front desk, room service and in-house dining. Our room had a beautiful view, the beds and beddings were great. We actually had the best sleep here.

The staff were absolutely incredible; we had to have our bags shipped down to Osaka due to smaller stops in Tokyo and Mt Fuji (too short to be able to guarantee the bags would arrive on time) which is a crazy distance. The ladies at the Information Centre were able to explain the process for this and even drew us a map to get to the shuttle bus to the train station and encouraged us to take a jacket and do a practice walk the night before. The tour we booked was also fantastic, and the food and local beer was great too. The room was incredible; it was so affordable for the space you're given and relaxing in the onsen overlooking the ballpark was an unforgettable experience, they even have snacks and a bar! Everyone we came across was so lovely, even other people staying were interested to hear about our trip as it's not a common place to find foreigners.

Dinner and breakfast were amazing both French and Japanese. We are vegetarian so chef prepared special meals for us. The best rooms are in floors 3 and 4 where you have open view of the lake. We don’t recommend taking the deluxe rooms as there are only 2, and you might end up in the second floor with partial view of the lake.

There is free private parking and the property provides paid airport shuttle service. The location was excellent as it was situated right at the bottom of the West Mount around Rusutsu Ski Resort. You can ski-in and ski-out quite easily to get to both West/East Mounts and Mt. Isola - though it is still a bit of a walk from the end of the ski-in trail to get to the Gondola. The Vale rooms are excellent condition, super clean and tidy, very modern and easy access. The rooms had Nespresso coffee machines which was great! However, we had to walk quite a bit to get to breakfast at the 'North Wing' of Rusutsu Resort every morning. There were no close by breakfast options downstairs.
