The location is right off the highway---super convenient. It's an older motel but it's very clean and beds are comfortable.

Hummingbird Garden is an incredibly special place: we adored it as soon as we arrived! The old cottage is beautiful, surrounded by a nice garden and a wood, immersed in the nature, with a large terrace where, yes, you can see a lot of hummingbirds coming to seep a special sweet nectare prepared for them by the wonderful host, Melanie. The house is something like a small museum and/or old Grandma house, with original pieces of forniture and fireplaces and porcelains happily mixed up with amazing decorations which make you think this could be a fairy house! And... who knows? Maybe Melanie is a fairy herself? We could not be sure of this, but surely she is so friendly and kind that she let us feel immediately at home, as if we were visiting an old friend of us. Her welcome smile comes directly from the hearth! The rooms, with wonderful pieces of fornitures and a very special tub, was large and beautiful and perfectly clean, with a very nice view on the garden; we enjoyed having our dinner on one of the sofas on the veranda, with Mel's two beautiful dogs resting at our feet and the hummingbirds flyinf around us! The breakfast was somptuos, served in porcelain dishes and cups in the wonderful dining room equipped with ancient pieces of forniture... Hummingbirds Garden is very quiet and silent, perfect for resting and relaxing, but it is just a few km from the town of Ladysmith and the city of Nanaimo, where you can start exploring the beautiful Vancouver Island Mel's place really surprised us: it is amazing, you must see it yourself!

Loved the view. Kitchen had everything we needed plus extra little things. Home away from home vibes. We had a stay cation and it was worth it! Communication with host was amazing! Loved the self check-in/check-out

Nice and comfy place. Kitchen had biodegrable bags which was nice since Im environmentally conscious. Well maintained. Friendly staff. Close to the water for a beautiful scenic walk.

The breakfast was delicious! The cinnamon buns could’ve been a little warmer. The waterslide was super fun. The beds were very comfortable, and the towels were so soft in the rooms. Even though this was close to the highway, and our room was very close, it was still quiet enough that we slept easily

Tracy, the manager, was friendly, helpful and accommodating. It had been a few years since I had been at the property. I was very pleased with the updates that have been made. It loos like the staff and owners are proud of the motel.
