Ulbster Arms is a very special hotel. On arrival, we sat out in the beer garden (on a beautiful warm Scotland day) and enjoyed a wonderful dinner and plentiful breakfast. Our room was very large, beautifully decorated and we had a comfortable, large bed. Staff were so friendly, especially the young girls serving in the restaurant.

After a trip of many hours by bus from London through Scotland, to discover the hotel and its fantastic owner was a treat by itself. She was so friendly, helpful and funny that it will definitely be the place we would recommend in Thurso to sleep in. Friends of environment and sustainable development be welcome, as there is a whole guide in the rooms on how the place is trying to keep the world a better place, as well as advice on what to discover around you.

The only negative about this stay is that it was only one night! Claire and Richard were amazing hosts who facilitated a slightly early check in and let me hang around after check out while waiting for a bus The room was spacious and clean, as was the bathroom. You can tell they take care and pride in the service they provide. Breakfast was cooked fresh (and was delicious) and there was a fridge available for use if you wanted drinks or food kept cold. Location was good, easy walking distance from the train and with bus stops nearby as well.

    Nice property. Good easy parking. Supper was good in the restaurant and the lounge was a nice touch. Stayed in the lodge which was fairly recently built with a nice common area. Staff were nice and friendly and tried to help get a wifi fix.

    Scottish spirit that was in everything. The building itself is more than 120 years old, as i understood because of the picture in the restaurant. Free parking . Clean and cozy . Delicious food.
