This hotel is simply INCREDIBLE! Way better than the pictures!! First of all, the location couldn’t be better. It’s in the heart of Val d’Orcia, with easy access to the villages. And it is just a 5min drive to Pienza, a lovely city, so it was pretty easy to have dinner there (since the hotel doesn’t have a restaurant). Pienza ended up being one of our favorite villages. The room also had a fully equipped kitchen, so we enjoyed our breakfasts there. The place itself is truly magical, we were very emotional when we arrived there during sunset - the infinity pool has amazing views to the Tuscan landscape. Seriously, this place is absolutely stunning. After spending the day visiting the cities, there was no better way to spend the afternoon by the pool appreciating the view. The room was extremely charming, it is possible to see that the owners put their heart there. Very spacious, super clean and comfortable. Marco, the owner, is an amazing host and gave us a lot of tips. Please, just book this place, you won’t regret it!! Well for sure stay there in the future.

I consider myself very lucky to have been able to stay in this place. Everything was good in a quiet town. The staff was kind, the room was large and comfortable, and the bathroom was clean and nice like a hotel. In particular, the homemade breakfast was fresh, nice, and delicious. I went for a walk to the middle of Pienza early in the morning, and I was really happy because the surrounding scenery was so beautiful. I am very satisfied

This place was truly amazing. It was spacious and beautiful, and the exterior of the accommodation was absolutely charming. We also had dinner here, and the food was incredibly delicious — not to mention, the portions were by far the most generous we had during our entire month-long trip. I highly recommend this place. Above all, the host lady was incredibly kind. During our stay, my wife injured her ankle. The host showed genuine concern, called the hospital to find out what we needed to do, and even contacted an ambulance for us. (In the end, we didn’t go because the hospital was too busy.) She then kept giving us ice and helped us treat the injury. We are deeply grateful — thank you once again for everything.

We could not think about any single improvement point, every single detail in Il Macchione is taken care of. The location is unique, peaceful and without any other house nearby, you can really relax, rest and enjoy the nice views 360. We received the apartment as soon as we arrived, super clean, warm and friendly reception by the family hosts and the apartment had everything we needed, including a complete kitchen set, including a good selection of local wines to avoid buying them outside. The bathroom has high-quality local products for free (soaps, creams...) which can be later purchased at reception. There is a wide selection of local products to choose for breakfast. We also took a cooking class (pasta) onsite with a professional chef for all the family, which both the kid and us loved. Highly recommendable location to stay if you are visiting Val d'Orcia, and just few minutes away from Gladiator film real locations! We just missed using the beautiful pool with views of the valley because we had rainy days, we will have to come back!

    Wonderful Hotel! We have spent 2 fantastic days in this gorgeous hotel near the city centre of lovely Pienza. The staff is always smiling and helpful, the room was comfortable and perfectly clean and breakfast was excellent. The restaurant of the hotel was also very good and the underground parking lot came in handy. I hope I'll be able to come back soon!
