Wonderful "old world charm" hotel with private onsen indoors & a hot springs river flowing outside! Much appreciated after a day of walking the Kodo trail. Dinner & breakfast very good. Very nice hotel with their own onsen onsite (public and private), which I enjoyed a lot. You can visit both throughout the day (even in the middle of the night). I would definitely recommend to get dinner and breakfast, there was an interesting variety of local and traditional dishes, which were very delicious. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. It's a great hotel I wish I would have spend more than a night in. It exceeded my expectations and I hope I will be back one day!

Very homely feeling during our stay in Hongu. Mandy not only made us feel welcome but looked after and took us around as if we were family. She also went out of her way to organise a taxi to find us when we got lost during our hike - without her I am not sure what would've happened. Both home prepped meals were amazing, and the acupuncture service was extremely professional. We really enjoyed this authentic Japanese homestay experience and hope to be back soon!

This place was amazing! The hospitality, the food, the welcome.... EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING. The food was divine. Really divine! We were worried about the location being out of town, but the owner drove us to town to get the bus in the morning. We were also offered a ride to the onsen and even had our washing done. Nothing was too much. Highly recommend.

The location is incredible in front of this huge tori. Waking up seeing this is incredible. The house is super confy and we’ll equipped. The little cafe near offers yummy breakfast and you are just walking distance from the sights.

I was very happy when I got to the hotel the atmosphere just felt really friendly and warm. I loved the bridge over the river to the onsen. The onsen was lovely, three outside pools and an indoor pool plus a private onsen for families or couples. The food was fantastic, eat slowly I ate too quickly and felt full too soon. There was a very friendly front of house staff member called Suchittra or maybe Sasayuri. I had a western twin room on the ground floor. The hotel was comfortably busy without being hectic. They have a shuttle bus and that was very handy from Hongu. When I left they gave me very good instructions how and when to catch the public bus to my next location.
