Amazing place, two bungalows near by the incredible swimming pool ! 🏊🏻‍♂️ Everything is clean, the staff is lovely, the food was delicious, home made cooking and the portions were huge ! 😋 Nice location if you want to do the safari, they arrange the safari for us, you don’t have to stress your mind. We will come back, a little heaven between the sugar can fields 🥰

We had a beautiful stay at Amba Kola, a slice of paradise in the Udawalawa jungle. We originally booked for 1 night but as soon as we arrived we were so warmly welcomed and loved the look and feel so much that we extended our stay. Janik and his family were incredible hosts, they treated us like family. Amba Kola is perfectly located on the edge of the National Park, which made it super easy to access safari tours. Tours are available to book onsite with their recommended tour guide, who we found to be so helpful, spoke very good English, and was amazing at spotting all of the wildlife on safari and relaying information. We saw many elephants as well as peacocks, deer, crocodiles, chameleons, iguanas, and so many different species of birdlife. Our room at Amba Kola was very relaxing and comfortable, we really loved the extra touch of an outdoor shower. We had the best food of our whole trip during our stay here, it truly was amazing. Janik’s mother, Mama Swarna, makes beautiful authentic home cooked meals, made from home grown and locally sourced fresh ingredients, and served with love. We have not stoped raving about it yet! Mama Swarna is a top rated cook and also offers traditional cooking classes. Janik, Greshan, and Sanju were so warm and friendly from the moment we arrived. Some of the most generous and happiest people we have met. They went out of their way to show us many of the local sights, and were always checking in on us with a smile to make sure we had everything we needed during our stay. We loved spending time petting and playing with their lovely dogs and cats, chilling in the beautiful garden, and enjoying a cool beer of an afternoon while playing a game of chess before dinner. We would not change a thing about our stay, every aspect was tastefully thought out and we enjoyed every moment, but the thing that really stood out and made our experience so special was being treated as part of this beautiful family.

We loved our stay here, Milan was so friendly and nice to chat with. We had the whole place to ourselves (by luck), it was so peaceful there. The room was very well equipped with a working tv with English channels, great aircon and shower. The balcony on the river was lovely, we saw all kinds of birds and even a turtle in the river (or tortoise?) We did the full day 12 hour safari for 49,000 (2 people) organised by Milan. We had a great day, it was long and hot but worth it. Milan got us a good taxi to Tangalle the next day too. 10/10 recommend, it really felt like a proper safari lodge stay!!

We spent 1 night at the Lodge & the room was spacious, hosts very friendly & welcoming. The highlight was our afternoon safari (organised through Kuma). Our driver, of which I can't recall his name, was one of the most professional & knowledgeable drivers we have ever had on a Sri Lankan safari. We stopped when he spotted a bird, reptile, mammal & explained a little bit about each animal. It was a thoroughly memorable afternoon. We were lucky to see many elephants, even a baby elephant, crocodiles, monkeys, spotted deer, different bird species including hornbills, kingfishers, bee eaters, 3 of the 5 eagles, an Eurasian hooper, pair of Asian paradise flycatchers, peacocks. Serene surroundings with streams, lush greenery, and a delightful variety of bird species. The apartment was spacious, spotless, and well-maintained. The pool was in excellent condition, and the staff were friendly and attentive. A special thanks to Chanuka for promptly addressing all our requests.

A perfect place to watch the wildlife roam by on the deck. The family is so generous and caring, they organised a safari for me in the park, when I ran out of cash took me by scooter to the atm, and they organised transfers for me from Ella and afterwards towards the beach. The bed was comfy, the food absolutely delicious. I can't recommend this place enough!

Beautiful location in the midst of nature. Samitha and the team made the stay exceptional. We really enjoyed the night walk and boat ride. Perfect location to enjoy the safari which was organised by the camp and was the hi-light of our trip, amazing driver who served as a guide also, we saw so much thanks to his hawk eyes! Samitha also arranged reasonably priced taxis for us to and from the accommodation. The dinner by the camp fire was a feast fit for a king and such an amazing way to finish the day. Thank you 🙏🏻
