I love this little motel. It's old but the towels are so soft (I've literally never had softer towels in all the places I've stayed) The pool was great for the kids & it's a great staying point for heading into death valley & towards las vegas

I have stayed at the Portal for over thirty years when I go on fishing trips to the eastern Sierra. Lata, the owner, is warm and friendly. The motel is conveniently located, fairly affordable, and offers great views of Mt. Whitney from the parking lot. There is a small refrigerator in the room to keep my beer cold and a small freezer part in the refrigerator to freeze my trout before the long trip back home through the desert. There is a little coffee pot in the room, with coffee, which is something I don't find in the Las Vegas hotels.

The motel is located in walking distance to the city center. People at the check in desk had good tips for visiting the region around Long Pine. Car parking is included. Shops and restaurants nearby.

The location was great; close in town but quiet. This little house was charming, small in size but it had everything we needed. The pellet stove was awesome! I had never experienced one before but it worked great. I had to call Rob to talk me through how to get it going because I had missed seeing the instructions on the desk and he was accomodating. Loved the memory foam mattress. Nice to have off street parking. I liked having a full bookshelf and found the cat artwork to add to the quaint quirkiness.

The location is pretty good, given the proximity to the west entrance of the Death Valley National Park. There is free parking, and it is easily reachable from Main Street. Staff is moderately friendly and helpful.
