There is a private bathroom with shower and free toiletries in each unit, along with a hairdryer. The lodge was set in beautiful gardens and lovely surrounding area in the mountains. The room was so lovely. Loved the terrace with hummingbird feeder on so we could watch the birds through the window whilst sat in bed. Everything about the place was well thought out, clean and extremely comfortable. Breakfast was really nice and they have a restaurant serving excellent food in the evening. The place is run by a lovely husband and wife team who were very friendly, spoke excellent English and were very interesting to talk to about the local area and life in Costa Rica. They were very attentive to our every need, constantly checking we were happy. We arrived early so parked the car there and went for a walk down the road. We were very impressed that they came to find us and collect us in their car when it started raining hard. They then put on a fire and made coffee for us so we could warm up. They made our last night in Costa Rica very special and we would strongly recommend anyone to stay there.

There is a private entrance at the holiday home for the convenience of those who stay. The holiday home features family rooms. The cabin is beautiful and in a lovely location. Quiet at night and in the morning, with just the sound of nature. The beds are comfortable and plenty of blankets available. The open fire is also lovely. The cabin is spacious and cosy. Internet was also good as was the TV.

This is my second time staying in this unit. With it's great location I had no need for a car. There are numerous great restaurants in easy walking distance and Uber is available in minutes at all times. The unit is extremely well organized and secure. It has everything I needed including a clothes washer and dryer. To top it off, the owners are very nice and available with a phone call.

El Toucanet is a delightful small hotel in the mountains with rustic cottages and a spacious, beautiful restaurant overlooking a garden. Moises, at the desk, was a gracious and caring host, as was the kitchen staff. Dinner and breakfast were excellent. Navigation is a must, as the hotel is about 30 minutes from the Pan American Hwy (Hwy 2) - absolutely worth the effort to get there. The sunny morning at breakfast with windows open and many species of hummingbirds feeding was most memorable.
