The staff were friendly and accommodating, even loading us down with a few free energy bars for the road ahead.

The extensively-refurbished Bridge House Hotel is set in Grasmere, directly across from St Oswalds Church and the graveyard where William Wordsworth rests. The hotel sits in its own mature grounds, with beautiful views overlooking the River Rothay.

In beautiful Lakeland surroundings overlooking an idyllic brook, Glencree is situated between the villages of Bowness and Windermere. With free parking and free Wi-Fi, it serves hearty breakfasts cooked to order. Guests can swim in the property's off-site pool. We really enjoyed our stay here, Shiralee made us feel very welcome from the minute we arrived.. she also cooks a delicious English breakfast!! Will definitely stay here again and recommend to others.

The surrounding National Park offers plenty of scenic routes for walking and cycling, and Ambleside is a 10-minute drive away. Windermere Rail Station is a 5-minute drive from the building. There is free parking and secure bike lock up on site. Very nice and cosy room with kettle, tea and coffee. Debbie (the host) is very lovely lady, and it was really nice chatting to her every morning. The breakfast is delicious and freshly made. The location is very good as it is close to the main road and easy to navigate around. The bus stop is also nearby which is perfect as at times it is easier to just take the bus instead of a car.

The views from the breakfast room are so good it was once listed in The Times Top 10 Most Scenic Restaurants. I had a lovely stay at this hotel. The room was clean, cosy and had everything I needed. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout my visit. The location is perfect — close to shops, restaurants and public transport, yet quiet at night. Breakfast was fresh and varied. A pleasant, comfortable hotel with a warm atmosphere. I’d happily stay again.
