We spent one night in Tomohon and would definitely recommend staying with Riko and his family! The room is simple, but clean and comfortable. The view from the balcony overlooking the beautiful, well-kept garden and the volcano is fantastic. Since the house is located on a small side street, it’s also very quiet and peaceful. Unfortunately, we only had one day to explore the area, but Riko went out of his way to make the most of our time there. He organized a private tour for us, and we got to visit a waterfall, hot springs, the volcano, and several other spots — it was a wonderful day. We would absolutely come back!

The rooms, sheets and towels were so clean, and foood… AMAZING. From the scrambled eggs at breakfast to the local dishes during dinner.

The family of the homestay are lovely and treat you like part of the family straight away. The food was excellent and plentiful. Not only did they cater to vegetarian and vegan diets easily, the food was delicious and a highlight of our stay. For the room, it was small but adequate with a queen size bed with a comfortable mattress. The bathroom was nice with a good pressure cool shower and flushing toilet. Aircon worked great.and was a nice treat. Ken's homestay was the place to be in the evening with live music being played by various talents from across the village. It's a fun and friendly vibe. Some nights are more lively than others which was a nice mix for us. If you are a light sleeper or go to bed early bring earplugs and it is fine. The mornings are nice and quiet and you can wake up to the sound of the waves. You can't even hear the church or the mosque! We went on two snorkelling tours and both were great ways to see other amazing snorkelling spots and we even visited the village on Manado Tua. Good value too. We extended our stay by two nights and wished we could have stayed longer. Terima kasih banyak!

The accommodation was very comfortable, with great amenities and a great view of nature. Yuli and Mehdi are incredible hosts who make you feel right at home. I had some amazing dives, and the professional instructors made the experience even better. I also enjoyed making friends and having fun conversations with other guests at the bar. To top it off, the food at the restaurant was amazing. Both the local and international options were very delicious. Can't wait to come back!

New Family Homestay is a recently renovated homestay in Rinondoran, where guests can make the most of its garden and shared lounge. This property offers access to a terrace and free private parking. The homestay features family rooms. We had a warm welcome by June, our host. The house is cosy and clean and the family is very friendly. They arrange the guided tours in the park and the food is really good. We had a very pleasant stay, thanks to the nice family.

The perfect Homestay in so many ways!! Tomohon has many things to do and the host is SO sweet and kind. She has a list with so many ideas of what to do (hot springs, volcano, etc) and was helpful in every way. The balcony has a beautiful view and great birdwatching. The place is very very clean and although the bathroom is shared it was never a problem, we even had hot water for a shower. We both got amazing massages right at the Homestay, with tea and treats after. There is a great cafe (sleiv) and stunning lunch spot (gardenia) within walking distance. There are ducks, kittens and a disabled dog. The host respects your privacy but is also up for chatting any time - highly recommend !

The lodge is owned and run by a local family, and they made us feel completely at home. The staff were warm, welcoming, and helpful. The Indonesian food was delicious, fresh, and a real highlight after long days out in the forest. The wildlife guides were outstanding. They know the forest inside and out. We did full-day bird tours and were able to see so many of Tangkoko’s incredible endemic birds and mammals. The guides helped us capture great views of hornbills, dwarf kingfishers, tarsiers, bear cuscus and macaques, and many other species. The accommodation was clean, the beds very comfortable, and the air-conditioning was a welcome relief after a hot day of birding and exploring. If your goal is to experience the wildlife of Tangkoko—whether general wildlife tours or full-day birding trips—we highly recommend Birding Lodge Tangkoko and Ardy’s team of guides.
