We enjoyed the onsen with wonderful mountain and sea views as well as an ice cream gift after bathing! The host allowed us to drop off our luggae early which freed us to stroll around the temple nearby and the rest of Atami, all of the host’s recommendations! My friends and I used the common area often as it was filled with natural light and windows across the entire span of the room. The sunrise and sunset were beautiful and we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect stay!

The coffee was great and the room was super clean.

Highly recommend the outdoor one, although I would book any room at Soki Atami again when I have the chance

The room had an amazing size and had a beatiful view on the river with the snow falling. the facility is pretty big and has many rooms with additional activities

The property is allergy-free and is located 49 km from Gero Station. Good location (~15min walking from the train station) and right next to the coziest streets of Takayama. The hotel and room were both heart warming, and great place to stay.

Effective October 1, 2025, a lodging tax will be introduced by ordinance of Takayama City. In addition to the room charge, 100 yen per person per day will be charged. Please pay in cash or by card upon check-in. Guests under 12 years old are exempt from the lodging tax. The staff were friendly and welcoming. They gave a helpful tour of the place on arrival. The common space was clean and had lots of books to read or couches to relax on. The dormitory had lots of room with good curtains for your bed for privacy.

Our rooms are designed with traditional Japanese aesthetics, featuring tatami mat flooring throughout. For those who prefer a futon on tatami or a bed, we also offer Japanese-Western style rooms. The warm ambiance is further enhanced by local artists' paintings adorning the walls. We spent Christmas Day here. Very traditional, clean and welcoming. The photos on Booking.com did not do this place justice. Staff were helpful, and offered advice about the local market. How to use the Onsen and etiquette about shoes/slippers and provided traditional wear whilst staying at the Ryoken everyone wore them, regardless of nationality, which made the evening meal very special. The 13 course dinner was really a whole experience that we won’t forget. We opted for the Japanese breakfast, again beautifully presented with a lot of food. All food was produced locally which was great too. Lots of art and historical pieces to browse and staff happy to talk you through. Rooms were comfortable clean and traditional. We had room 311 which was a family room with a bedroom and matted area where futons were laid out for additional guests. The room was large enough for us to accommodate 6 adults for after dinner drinks. Was really close to the train and bus station and we caught the ski shuttle bus and went skiing for the day. Very much one of the best parts of our stay.

The hotel features hot-spring baths, a restaurant serving breakfast and free WiFi throughout the property. This ryokan is introduced in Michelin Green Guide Japan. It's really hard to express how superb this stay was. And it was only 1 day. I imagine this is thanks to type of the place, not being typical hotel, but rather traditional ryokan with it's quality. From the beginning, the staff was excellent. Helpful, informative, easy to talk to. The room, comparing to our other hotels, was huge. Sleeping on futon was our best sleeping experience during whole stay in Japan. We have booked private bath, and again - everything well prepared, all important things available in the room. We were provided also with yukatas to be used in ryokan, but in addition we could also use more colorful that could be used outside. Hotel is 5 minutes walk from main station and on the way to old town of Takayama. The last but not least - breakfast was the best we had in Japan. We have chosen Japanese one and we could try many elements.
