Gjestehuset Borggata 18 is a recently renovated campground in Fredrikstad, where guests can make the most of its terrace and shared lounge. This is not just a hotel – it’s much better. I expected a simple bed and breakfast, but got a full kitchen, big lounge, terrace, washing machine and dryer. Anka, the hostess, was incredibly kind and even hung my laundry so I could go explore. Breakfast is included – bread, cheese, cold cuts, eggs – and you can cook your own meals in the kitchen. There’s plenty of space, two stoves, two fridges, and two shared bathrooms for only a few rooms. I came for one night and stayed for two. The town, nearby islands, and lake are beautiful. The house is spacious and tastefully decorated with panoramic windows overlooking a river in the guestroom. The linens were also provided! The neighborhood is quiet, and it's 20-25 min drive from Oslo Downtown. It's one of those very rare cases when it seems too good to be true, but ends up being true. :) We would definitely stop there again!

The wellness area includes an indoor pool, fitness centre and sauna, while an outdoor swimming pool is also available. Absolutely brilliant hotel, staff friendly and helpful. Stopped for 5 blissful days, allowed us to wind down and de-stress. Room was brilliant. Yes, there was no TV, but you don’t need one, this was a complete digital detox, and I have to say this is the first time I have lasted so long without checking the phone and computer , and it was so good, will have to try and do it more often. Food, snacks and drinks at the pool area, the brasseriet and Mori, were all brilliant. The breakfast buffet was great, large choice, covering all tastes. On the last day had to check out early, hotel helped organize transport, and put together a breakfast that we could take with us. Pools, saunas, relaxing areas were clean and perfect. We did several rituals, great fun. Had no issues with robes or towels missing, and even if someone took the wrong one, just got another towel or robe, at no cost. A note if you do use the bus to go to Oslo, you need a Ruter card to travel on the bus. Ruter.no . These you can get via the apps for Apple or Android, or you can buy tickets in various shops: The kiosks Narvesen, 7-Eleven, Deli De Luca and Mix, as well as some selected shops The Well is a brilliant hotel, the staff excel, and the facilities are wonderful. I have read a lot of the reviews on Google etc., and I cannot understand where the negative comments come from, all I say is, don’t believe everything you read. We will definitely be going back again😀

We stayed in the three bedrooms apartment at Mormorhuset, and it was great value for money.
