The space is beautifully maintained, clean, and thoughtfully laid out—perfect for anyone looking to unwind and enjoy some peace and quiet. One of my favorite little surprises was the small library section—it was so welcoming! I actually got to slow down and enjoy a bit of reading during my stay, which was a rare and refreshing treat. The apartment is very quiet, which made it ideal for resting and recharging. The ambiance is modern yet cozy, and everything I needed was readily available. Communication with the host was smooth and warm, adding to the overall positive experience.This was exactly the escape I needed—comfortable, peaceful, and full of charm. I highly recommend this place and would gladly return! I tried booking it again for a little getaway in July but was disappointed to see it already booked—clearly, others love it too! I’ll definitely be staying here again once it’s available. Highly, highly recommend!

This IS the spot to stay on Bequia, literally a few minutes walk from the ferry from St Vincent, on flat ground! (This is a hilly island!) Despite the close proximity to the tiny port, the water in front of the hotel is crystal clear and not too deep, perfect for regular refreshing swims literally a minute away from the room. There are neighbouring restaurants and bars - also on the waterfront which are very practical - only being very low season during our stay we weren’t able to experience as most were closed. This made for a very peaceful, idyllic stay which suited us perfectfully. Thank you Gretel, the manager, for your kindness in upgrading us & offering a late checkout (as availability allowed). Definitely would recommend Gingerbread hotel!

Our premium suites are furnished with locally crafted 4-poster beds and hand-made furniture by local craftsmen. All rooms have flat-screen TV. Certain accommodations feature a balcony sitting area with dramatic views of the ocean or pool. Some rooms are limited-mobility accessible. All rooms all include a modern, en-suite bathroom with a custom shower, bathrobes, free toiletries, and a hairdryer provided. We use solar energy, collect water and recycle. It’s a lovely, unique and beautiful hotel. It has old school charm, felt like something out of a movie. We enjoyed our stay, staff were friendly and nice (shout out to Gabriel, Meredith and our shuttle driver). Kids had a blast and loved their pool, restaurant had a variety of food selection.

A kind of paradise.

Our Villa was spotless and seemed well maintained. The location and property itself is absolutely gorgeous. One thing to note is that the resort is on a far corner of the island away from most of the tourist activity. That being said, we preferred this and opted to rent a car. The drive to the town centre is a relaxing and enjoyable 20 minute drive with scenic views an no traffic slow downs to be found. All the staff were very courteous, friendly and were accommodating to any extra requests we may have had. Bequia seems like a very safe place, so safety concerns were not an issue.

Robert (the owner) has built a wonderful Property so close to the beach and having breakfast with such an amazing view of Bequia made the trip even more amazing. Roxanne and Cleo who work with Robert are truly amazing and loving locals who care a lot about the Sweet Retreat and the guess. Seeing them everyday made us very happy and they really know Bequia very well. I highly recommend staying at the property. It was great meeting Robert (a fellow Brit) he really has spent two decades transforming this property into something amazing. See you again soon!
