Vistamar is a special place with incredible views and such a homely, peaceful and cozy vibe! I could have happily stayed here for several weeks instead of just 6 days, and am already thinking of returning as soon as possible! The room was large and had a lot of storage space, and the bed was super comfy. I loved the shared kitchen/garden/chill out space downstairs, as well as the spacious rooftop deck that's used for yoga classes in the mornings. The beach and some very cool bars, cafes and restaurants are only a few minutes walk away. The optional meals at Vistamar (breakfast, lunch and dinner) are a nice touch, and are fresh, local and healthy!

This is the best hotel location I could have hoped for when choosing accommodations that were not beachfront. La Buena Vida is tucked away a bit so that you feel you have some privacy here. Ayampe is not a vast town so getting to the main roads and the beach was just a lovely stroll a few blocks away. The staff at La Buena Vida is INCREDIBLE. I loved each person I interacted with. Maria is so kind and generous, Johanna is incredibly helpful and accommodating in a graceful way. I am grateful for Kate who was so welcoming, helpful, and friendly; as well as Jay who was also very friendly. There are also two resident cats who I loved having around. The room was very comfortable and the perfect size for me (could also be perfect for a couple). The fan and AC were a godsend with the heat and humid environment. WiFi worked great while I was there, I had a lot of work and schooling to get done so I appreciated this as well. Ayampe is a very laid-back town with friendly people and super yummy foods, I highly recommend visiting and having a stay at La Buena Vida. Bonus: opportunities for yoga classes just up the road, surf lessons available, amazing pastries and fresh coconuts just up the street on the way to the beach <3

Had a great stay at Viejamar! Rodrigo’s and Soraya were very friendly, helpful and accommodating, they made my stay comfortable and easy! Lovely place right on beach! Not too noisy at night (at times, mainly from neighbouring facilities). I would definitely come back here!
