Nice and spacious and easy to find and enter. Everything needed for a short stay was there so we didn’t need to bring for example washing up liquid and shower gel. TV and WiFi was available and working fine. Nearby is Whitley Bay beach - a really nice blue flag beach and some great restaurants. Also nearby is the lighthouse - a must visit as you can go inside. Reminded me of my childhood holidays :)

This was my second time staying at the property, and once again it didn’t disappoint. The place is lovely—clean, comfortable, and very peaceful, which made for a really relaxing stay. It’s located in a nice quiet area, perfect for unwinding. I would definitely stay again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a calm and pleasant place to stay.

The cottage is in a fabulous location for exploring the North East coast with Cullercoats beach just a very short walk. Simpson Street is a lovely street of colourful cottages and there is plenty of free parking outside the cottage. Access to the metro is extremely easy too. Cowrie Cottage is welcoming, cosy and comfortable. It’s very tastefully decorated and is well-equipped. The log burning fire is great. The owner text to say the cottage was ready for our stay earlier than check-in time which was a nice touch. Julie was also quick to respond when text with a query. She was extremely helpful. We will definitely return!

The best self catering flat we have ever stayed in. Judy the host went over & above to ensure the comfort & enjoyment of your holiday. She had thought of everything, a real home from home, & nice added extras, I.e.welcome food to get you started, a chilled bottle of cava…lovely touches. Whitley bay is a lovely location, with its long promenade & lovely beaches. The flat was a short walk from all this, as well as shops, bars & restaurants.We didn’t have a car, but you could go anywhere with the many bus services & the metro minutes away.

It was a fantastic hotel and great location for exploring Hadrian's wall, Lindisfarne, Whitby etc. We loved the breakfast and dinner. It felt like Hercule Poirot could step out from the door. Staff very helpful, easy access by car, Sainburys and gas station just around the corner. We were lucky with good weather and the sunrise was beautiful.

    Friendly, helpful staff who were happy to arrange me an early breakfast to allow me to get away to work early while I was staying which was really appreciated! Comfortable, spotlessly clean room. Very dog friendly. Excellent food.

    Perfect location as base to explore Northumberland. Staff very helpful, always a smile. Nothing too much trouble. OMG The food was fabulous, only sorry I wasn't there longer to try more. Dog friendly was a bonus for us. Would highly recommend The Waterford Arms and WILL be returning.
