We had a double room in a building that was built into the hillside, entered from stairs underground and then a French door on the opposite side of room that opened to a small shaded area overlooking the vast valley below and the beautiful Montone, a hilltop village straight across the valley. The view was magic and made us smile every morning when we woke. It was then down the path to a small but lovely pool near the mountain edge. We had exploring to do, so regrettably didn't have as much time to spend just relaxing at the venue, as we would have liked. A next visit for this is being planned. We had a delicious and plentiful breakfast each morning with many choices available. It was a 20-30 min walk to Montone, an uphill, and down dale stroll. There are other accommodation types at the B&B, I believe, but we just loved ours. There wasn't air con, but we didn't need it because of the underground nature of the room, and it was very hot out. Montone is a delightful village and was the purpose for our initial stay, however the area has some lovely other villages and a devine winery not if you have a car to explore in.

The views from this accommodation are breath-taking!!!! This is a great option if you want to be lost in the middle of the forest, breathing the clear air and going for walks in nature. The breakfast was very well served and really delicious. The room was clean, comfortable, cozy and warm. The host was really nice.

The breakfasts were very tasty and varied. An additional advantage was the excellent, super tasty cakes cook by of the owner Giuseppe. The location of Abadia Farneto is fantastic. First of all, wonderful views of the Gubbio skyline and the surrounding hills. Close to the center of Gubbio - a few minutes by car, other larger cities such as Assisi, Perugia, Spello ... only an hour by car. An additional advantage of the location is plenty of area for walking and cycling. The time we spent in Abadia Farneto was fantastic for us. Peace and quiet, nice atmosphere, wonderfully large and warm swimming pool (16x6m). The owner Giuseppe is very helpful. He gave us many valuable tips, such as: what and where is happening locally, where and how to get there, and places with very good food. Also, what is very important and valuable, when we had a problem, Giuseppe took care of us, for which we THANK YOU SO MUCH !! And see you next year, we are definitely coming back !! Summary: the residential building and its surroundings, location, owner and service at the highest level.

The room, if a little bare, was super clean, and the bed was comfortable. The location is good for the centre of Umbertide. We thought that a couple of glasses could have been supplied. The coffee machine and fridge were in a shared area with another room, so that on our last morning the coffee machine was blocked with used coffee capsules.

    This was our third visit. We truly love the location - gorgeous views overlooking wild forests, hillsides and canyon, with total peace and quiet. 90% of the time all you can hear is the birds, and occasionally sheep bells. No traffic sounds and no flyovers. Quite remarkable in these modern times. The master bedroom has a beautiful view as well. We also love the hosts Claudia and Stefano - such nice people and so helpful.

    The location is exceptional, and the hosts Claudia and Stefano are very helpful. The setting is peaceful and surrounded by the green fields, forests, hills and valleys of Umbria. The drive up from the main road is beautiful and easy for our rental Fiat. Having our own kitchen, the spectacular views and the intimate connection with nature make this our favorite place to stay in Italy - we have stayed 2 weeks both last year and again this year.
