One of the most amazing places I’ve ever stayed in the entire world. We loved the property and all of the amenities were incredible! The list goes on and on, it was my wife’s favorite hotel that she’s ever stayed in and that says a lot because we travel more than 50% of the year.

We really enjoyed the owners of the property. Everyone there was super friendly and gave us good tips on things to do and things to see. They always said hi when we left and again hi when we got back. We really felt at home here. The room was spacious, clean and quiet. We liked that we also could sit outside on the balcony area, or go down to the pool area. It's a walk down to the city center, but honestly, the restaurants around this hotel, is far better anyway. We traveled with our pet and the owners helped us get in touch with a vet to get a health certificate to continue to Guatemala. They also helped us to get a shared mini bus to Flores in Guatemala that had no problems waiting for us at the border while we got all papers stamped for our dog.

It’s extremely quiet and that gives a nice break from San Ignacio. The beds are big and very comfy. We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment and it was perfect for our family of 4 even without a living room. Larry can give you good advices about the activites in the area.

Here’s a polished and engaging travel review for Banana Bank Lodge:
A True Gem of Hospitality and Community
My stay at Banana Bank Lodge was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with warmth and genuine care. The staff couldn’t do enough for me—attentive, kind, and always ready to assist. Their dedication to guest satisfaction truly sets this place apart.
What makes Banana Bank Lodge extraordinary isn’t just its breathtaking surroundings or the comfort it offers, but the passion and heart that go into every aspect of it. The owner is a true gentleman, going above and beyond to share the incredible history of the lodge and the meaningful work he and his wife have dedicated themselves to. This is far more than just a lodge or farm; it’s a living testament to their deep-rooted commitment to the land, the people, and the culture.
Their philosophy is evident in every detail—from their respect for nature to their efforts in uplifting the local community. They don’t just run a business; they are actively making a positive impact wherever possible. It’s a shining example of how tourism can be a force for good, blending sustainability, hospitality, and cultural enrichment.
Thank you, Banana Bank Lodge, for an unforgettable experience. I left not just with wonderful memories but with deep admiration for what you stand for. If you’re looking for a stay that’s more than just a vacation—a place that truly touches the heart—this is it.
Highly recommended!

Pine Ridge Lodge has a garden, shared lounge, a terrace and restaurant in San Ignacio. Featuring a bar, the property is located within 18 km of Barton Creek Cave. The accommodation features a 24-hour front desk, airport transfers, room service and free WiFi. It took me nearly a month to come back to write this review. Simply because the experience is so exceptionally good that I don't know where to start. It was a dream experience that we keep talking about even weeks after leaving the place. "I want to go back to Pine Ridge Lodge" is a recurring sentence we say to each other. We even day-dreamed about moving to Belize and joining Neil. I could write thousands of words about Pine Ridge Lodge but that would exceed the limitation of the review length. All aspects were beyond perfect so I won't repeat all the check-box questions and answers that were already provided by Booking. I clicked on the faces with the biggest smile for all the questions and still feel that the smile is not large enough to reflect how our stay was. Neil and José's hospitality and genuine vibe was out of this world. We absolutely loved the daily routine of starting the day with a delicious breakfast tailor-made for us, accompanied by the sound of birds, the sounds of wind blowing on pine leaves, the golden sunbeam shining on our food, having a day out and coming back in the evening welcomed with a delicious home-made dinner at 19:00 that provides a lot of comfort and peace, spending the rest of the evening having very interesting conversations with Neil, being introduced to his beloved chicken and hearing his fascinating stories, walking back to our room in the dark watching so many stars in the dark sky that you would otherwise not have the chance to see anywhere close to cities, and falling asleep with the constant soothing sound of the waterfall right next to our room. I still drool every time I think of the beef cooked by Neil in his high pressure cooker. Maggie, one of the two super cute dogs liked to greet us and follow us around that added extra joy. We also very much appreciated not having wifi except in the dining area.

Nice staff, nice cabin, location a bit too far from town. You need to take a taxi. Fine swimmingpool, my son unfortunately broke a tooth by playing in the pool. Nice garden, we could do some birdwatching.
Two bedrooms, great a/c, a kitchen, nice hot shower, and patio for hanging out. Location was good. It’s uphill from the center of town but just a few minutes walk. Quiet street.
The location was a perfect spot for exploring the Cayo District. It was only about a 25-min drive to our meeting spot for both excursions we completed. The staff was very responsive and the cabins were clean.
Loved the location, tranquility, and easy access to lovely hiking trails. The animals (dog, cats, cows, horses) were an added bonus. Lots of fantastic birds, butterflies, and howler monkeys that you can see up close.
Location was terrific! Close to ATM cave, San Ignacio, Xunantunich and Tikal ruins. Breakfast and dinner are delicious and served daily, they will cater to dietary needs. Maddy is wonderful and so are her team and her dogs. So much to explore and do on the property as well. Hope to come back someday.
The host at this property was a shining star. Thoughtful, accessible and present despite running a farm. The property was gorgeous. Also he has a soft heart and feeds some local dogs and barn cats in which all the guests loved. He was very conscious if they were around too much… but we all wanted more.
I think we had the best room in the place, suite 132, a corner balcony with jungle views. On the Trumpet tree outside our room we saw various birds, including motmots and toucans. Also saw a kinkajou one evening. Amazing staff who remember your names and cater to your every whim. Also got a tour of the on-site Green Iguana Sanctuary. It’s a very short walk into town. Also, it’s where Will and Kate stayed when they were here. And the queen too back in 1994.
A good all round backpackers. Nice atmosphere, good terrace and shared areas. Staff were helpful in organising shuttles buses and making sure people got them as planned. Lovely cats and dogs around the place.
