We messaged the property via booking.com to get a transfer from train station and tours to Longji rice terraces and Li Cruise organized. Everything was duly noted and executed. We were picked up by the driver at the train station (it was a free pick-up included in the price because we stayed for 3 nights). Next day the driver took us to the docks and handed tickets for the Li Cruise. The other day English-speaking driver Peter picked us up and we drove to the Longji rice terraces. Before going to the terraces we cooked a bamboo rice and visited minority village. Also we had one more free day when we arrived, and the receptionist showed us the points of interest to visit in Guilin (lake with Pagoda twin towers, elephant trunk park, etc.). The staff does not speak any English but we were able to communicate fluently via WeChat (there is a built-in translator there), Google translate and other translator apps. So in general we had no communication issues.

The property also provides a shared kitchen, tea class, cooking class, calligraphy class and Zen experience. The location was near enough to the city but far enough to be calm and quiet. We were able to walk and cycle around the countryside. The staff members were very sweet and helpful. They organized day excursions for us and made sure we had everything we needed. The room we as comfortable and the bathtub a plus. We would definitely stay here again.

I liked everything about the property- the view, the location, the room, the space for relaxing drinking tea from the room with an excellent panorama over the lake, the help from the personal, all contributed to an amazing staying.

Surrounded by mountains and waters, the property offers quiet accommodation and peaceful ambience where you may easily relax. The staff was so friendly and hospitable, he even invited us for a BBQ with his friends and we had such a wonderful evening! He also brought our suitcases upstairs to our room and cut some watermelon for us, when we arrived. The room was very cosy and clean and had all the facilties you need. It’s located in a very beautiful neighbourhood, which is very calm and cosy at night! We had a lovely view of the mountains from our window. You can ask him anything you need and he arrange it for you, like a beautiful private tour with a English speaking driver to the Longji Rice Terraces, fixing the tandem bike to a perfect hight, so we could cycle in the city, and a taxi to our train. Even though he could speak English very well, we could communicate very well via translate!

Just 5 km from Yangshuo, The Giggling Tree is an unique guest house which is located in the tiny village of Little Mountain Gate. It features traditional farmhouses, a beautiful courtyard and an outdoor swimming pool. Free WiFi access is available. The hosts were so lovely and helpful. Nothing was too hard. They made excellent activity recommendations and took care of all our bookings. The hotel were great with our children - highlights for them were the pool and bikes!

Wedged amongst the bamboo forests and rural farmlands, Riverside Retreat Hotel overlooks the beautiful water of the Li River. It boasts an outdoor pool, a sun terrace and stylish restaurant with mountain view. Free Wi-Fi is offered in the entire property. The place looks exactly like the pictures. It is managed by Shelly, the owner and a lively warm hearted lady who always has a smile on her face. The outdoors space by the pool smells of Jasmin Flowers and big butterflies everywhere. And then the views of the karst landscape and the city down below everywhere you look. its is slightly away from the Town, roughly 16 minutes by scooters which you can rent at the reception. I LOVED this place. I felt home. Wei wei the chef, Xing xing the cleaning lady, Craig the main receptionist and of course Shelly have left a print on my heart. If you are visiting the area, this is thee absolute best value for your money situation. That being said, Yangshuo is an all around kind and hospitable city so i am sure that wherever you end up will be Sweet.
