The rooms themselves were fantastic, boasting efficient AC, a convenient fridge, and a charming covered balcony overlooking a picturesque banana plantation. The serene atmosphere, coupled with the melodic birdsong, made for truly tranquil evenings, especially when accompanied by the soothing rhythm of raindrops dancing on the balcony. One of the highlights of our stay was the accessibility to the nearby hotel, easily accessible via a complimentary tuk-tuk ride or a leisurely walk. There, we indulged in the refreshing pool and indulged in a sumptuous buffet breakfast while marveling at the breathtaking views of the river, where elephants from the nearby orphanage would grace us with their presence twice daily as they came down to bathe. A special shoutout is reserved for Andrew, the incredibly friendly and accommodating transport manager, who went above and beyond to ensure our stay was nothing short of perfect. From providing lifts into town to arranging transportation to our next destination, Andrew's dedication to ensuring our comfort and satisfaction was truly commendable. Overall, our experience at Pinnawala was nothing short of exceptional. The blend of luxurious amenities, breathtaking natural surroundings, and outstanding service made for an unforgettable family getaway. He picked us up at the airport with a van as we were traveling with our 3 kids and drove us to his house where we stayed for 5 days. We felt immediately at home and spent wonderful moments all together. Anushka brought us to amazing places, temple on top of a mountain with perfect view, river to have a bath every evening, tea factory, Ayurveda botanical garden, restaurant near waterfalls, and a place where we spent a perfect time with elephants, having a ride with them, washing them in the river and giving them some food. Such an amazing experience! He also waited for us in Nanu Oya train station to bring us back to his home after an unforgettable train journey to see the tea plantations. Always ready to make us discover new things, exotic fruits we could buy on our way, animals like monkeys, porcupine, giant lizards and giant bats, answering all questions and so interesting when speaking about his country. He can arrange you any tour you'd like to discover Sri Lanka, always helpful and reactive, you can trust him for everything. And what we loved the most are the precious moments we spent with his family. They are all wonderful people we'll stay in contact with for sure. For those who don't speak English good to know that his sister speaks perfectly French ( she's a teacher) and she's also super friendly and interesting. We spent unbelievable evenings all together, singing loud, and dancing, and having BBQ party. Thank you Anushka for everything, for being you, for introducing us to your family, for having such a great heart, and for having printed in our soul precious and unforgettable memories 🥰
