- From $187.94 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.5Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 95 reviewsThe room was huge, and the bed, design, colors, and materials were all very relaxing. The multiple large windows gave us breathtaking views. Breakfast was wonderful--everything homemade, locally produced, and fresh. The family offered to make us something in addition to the extensive breakfast spread. They were patient with our language barrier (we only know rudimentary German at this point). The family are very environmentally conscious. These are great people who have a very special inn. And two very sweet kitties :)Guest review bySarahUnited States
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.6Excellent - What previous guests thought, 58 reviewsIt is a ski sport hotel. We were there in the summer and spent a great holiday with kids. All day food and drinks are included in the price. Variety of good food. Indoor swimming pool, sauna. Bike rental shop next door. Free parking. There is a lot to do in the neighborhood even in the summer, plenty of paths to hike and bike and other sport activities.Guest review byEdytaNetherlands

The village and the surroundings are beautiful, good food in the restaurants. We missed a cafe open in the morning :). The church and its surroundings are incredibly beautiful and well-kept: no wonder it is the symbol of the village.Guest review byBorbálaHungary - 8.0

Matrei and the surrounding countryside mirror the pictures that are seen of Austria: it is beautiful. The town has two grocery stores and a very helpful tourist information center. It also has an interesting museum and a reasonable choice of restaurants.. We ate our evening meal in the hotel across the street ( where the breakfast included is eaten) and the food was good. Easy access from the main highway.Guest review byAlexandra - 10.0

This hotel is just a diamond in one single word.
This hotel is just a diamond in one single word. There are too many topics to mention why I came to this conclusion. When you love the mountains and you would like to have an amazing stay, you have to book this hotel. Each facet of your list will be checked and at the end you are surprised of the total cost. This is really more than acceptable for all what this hotel offers you. You will return with a smile on your face and looking forward when you plan a next stay.Guest review byFrederikBelgium - 10.0

This location is a haven for skiing, hiking, photography, nature walks, and other activities that offer a refreshing escape from urban routines. The apartments are nice and well-equipped, ensuring your leisure time is both comfortable and convenient, especially with the lifts just 200-300 meters away. Several nearby restaurants serve delicious food and drinks, adding to the overall experience. While most visitors to the mountains are from Germany and Austria, you'll also encounter many friendly people from various EU regions, making it a delightful and sociable environment.Guest review byheorhiiUkraine - 10.0

If you ever go to visit Heiligenblut, please drive the Grossgluckner Hochalpenstrasse and visit the Kaiser Franz Josefs Hohe. Park your car and go find some murmeltieren. I had the best day of my life with some carrots and the friendly murmeltieren.Guest review byHilliëtteNetherlands - 6.0
Nice small town. They have supermarkets and a bus stop.
Nice small town. They have supermarkets and a bus stop. For us it was our starting and end point of the Venediger Höhenweg. You need some planning to get to the right place by bus. Nice connection to the train station in Kitzbühel and Lienz. Also you can get by bus to the Matreier Tauern Haus and Ströden. Hitchhiking is also possible.Guest review byLieke - 10.0

We were on a driving holiday visiting the high alpine passes. The Grossglockner road tool booth is five minutes away and opens at 5:30am; we left the hotel at 5:25am and were there as it opened. The hotel was welcoming, clean and as advertised. We ate at the hotel, having been up to the Edelweißspitze (the toll is reduced after 6pm, so we arrived and went up before dinner). Some rooms overlook the main road, so you might want to request a room on the other side of the hotel if the noise of the occasional vehicle bothers you.Guest review byRichardUnited Kingdom - 10.0

First we overnight at Wurlerhof Pensión with breakfast. Excellent accommodations, great bathroom with warm towels. Austrian humble and loving hospitality with breakfast included. Homemade mermelade, bread, own hen eggs. A dream. Then went up for the experience, that connection of solitude and power at Grossglockner.Guest review byJacquelineUnited States
