The truth is that the site exceeded my expectations, it is a magical place. The best thing was the guy who attended to us at all times, I asked them at the hotel for a cake for my girlfriend and he brought it to us along with breakfast with candles, everything was perfect. I don't know the boy's name, but the treatment is appreciated.

We had an absolutely fantastic stay at this remarkable hotel. We were greeted by the most welcoming and attentive owner, Sandra! Her warmth and eagerness to assist made us feel like a valued guest throughout my entire stay. The view, it was awesome! We are lucky enough to get the top floor! The view from our room was like a masterpiece that changed with the light of each passing day, leaving us breathless. The food at this hotel’s restaurant were simply great! From the breakfast spread that offered an array of delicious options to the exquisite dinners. The overall experience was nothing short of perfection. Every aspect of the hotel's design and service was remarkable. Whether it was the comfortable beds, the amenities, or the seamless check-in and check-out process, it was evident that the staff had put their heart into ensuring a memorable stay.     Excellent location, extremely central. 30 second walk from the ferry & bus station. Supermarket, bakery & restaurants just round the corner. Sooo close to the Salt Mine attraction. Super clean, spacious room, amazing view from balcony & most of all, sweet manager. We appreciated the room upgrade with mountain view (which we did not expect!!) & Also were given €4 discount to the Salt Mines.

    We stayed a bit less than 24 hours, may have liked a few more hours, but not a lot more. It was a wonderful intermediary between Vienna and Salzburg. It was nice to be there around the times that the buses weren’t. We rode in on the train, ferry to the town and ferry back to the train.

    We travelled with 3 different trains from Vienna to...

    We travelled with 3 different trains from Vienna to Obertraun in order to visit Hallstat. Unfortunately, the transportation wasn't very convenient for us. One of the trains that we had arranged was late and we had to wait two more hours in order to get the last train to Obertraun. We departed from Vienna at 8:00 and we arrived to Obertraun at 15:30! Obertraun was very close to Hallstat. Hallstat is a magical place but next time I would prefer to visit it by car.

    Gosau had everything we needed for a wonderful, relaxing holiday - a grocery store, multiple restaurants, beautiful views, friendly people, and many trails for hiking, biking, and walking. Additionally, Gosausee is only a short drive away. We didn't leave Gosau during our entire stay, as there were plenty of things to do, including just relaxing.

    The cons are it's a SUPER touristed little town, feels very crowded to walk the streets through the downtown. It's a gem of a town, so I get why everyone comes here. We were here in early Sept and even then it was wildly busy - I can't imagine coming here in peak season in June/July. There is also very little vegan food available but we made it work (there's great grocery stores for non-dairy milk, cheese, bread, hummus, veg, etc). The pros are it is really a lovely place and if you leave the town to go hiking (highly recommend), it's a lot more peaceful and the views are just epic. There's waterfalls and lookouts, and paths along the river. The salt mine was closed for construction but that looked cool to checkout. Some of the shops downtown had good things to buy (wooden ornaments and figurines, all the salt you can want, soaps).

    Stay in beautiful Obertraun instead of the overpriced and crowded Hallstatt! We stayed 3 nights in a lovely accommodation Haus Edelweiss, and following the recommendations of lovely host Nina, we spent one day walking from Obertruan to Hallstatt. Along the way, we saw this stone path going up the hill and we went up (very do-able hike), and it led to a very beautiful view of Hallstatt! We then went down the other way and continued walking towards Hallstatt, explored the beautiful village and took the ferry (Euro 12/pax) back to Obertruan. Next day, we walked a loop from Obertruan to Koppenwinlsee. The walk was very lovely and we saw tiny red strawberries everywhere! There was a restaurant after Koppenwinslee but I think it was closed on Mon-Wed (please check), and other days open for lunch & dinner, so time yourself to make it in time for lunch/dinner. We were stopping so often to admire the scenery that we missed their lunch time! It is better to visit during non-summer to enjoy Austria.

    The accommodation had great view and the balcony was so Cousy, I could sit whole evening there to spend some quality time. The location is beautiful and relaxing. My kids enjoyed lot. Special thanks to providing such a variety of toys and activity stuff for kids, they really got occupied with activities while at apartment.

    Gosau is getting really popular among the tourist who want to visit places in Austria. Closer to Hallstatt, it offers serenity and options to hike, do rock climbing and ride mountain bikes. Gosau lake was beautiful and the hike around it is mesmerizing with some magnificent sights.

    Beautiful place to visit. Better staying overnight - get up early or go out after the day trippers have left town to appreciate the atmosphere and beauty. Go do the caves, five fingers etc during the day.
