- From $169.57 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.7Excellent - What previous guests thought, 252 reviewsReutte is a small town over the border from Germany in Austria. We stayed there between visiting Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein castles and Linderhof Palace. It was a 20 minute drive from Hohenschwangau. The hotel had free parking on site. They had two parking lots, one behind the hotel and a smaller one across the street. There are signs at each parking lot letting you know it belongs to the hotel. We were able to check-in with the German confirmation provided by booking.com (they spoke a little English). Our room was way more spacious than we expected. We booked for 3 adults. It had two bedrooms each with a queen size bed, a small sitting area, shelving for luggage and clothes and a balcony. The room had a separate toilet room and a room with a shower and sink. It also had a full kitchen (although it was closed we could make use of the refrigerator). There was also a table and chairs and a living room with a TV. Very nice. The hotel looked like there was an older section and a newer section, I think we were in the newer section. Breakfast was provided and was buffet style. There were cereals, meats and cheeses and bread, yogurts, juice, eggs. Everything was great.Guest review byMeghanUnited States
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.8Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 163 reviewsMy wife and I loved everything!! The host, Annaliese, could not have been sweeter or more kind! We arrived just before 2100 due to some traffic. She offered and made us fresh tea and served that with some homemade cake. We sat and talked to her for almost 20 minutes before heading to our room. The room was incredibly nice and complete with a note from Annaliese and fresh drinks for the evening. The bed and duvet covers were very, very comfortable... we slept so peacefully! And then... there's the breakfast! There was only my wife and I plus one other guest for the night and you would have thought the place was packed based on the size of the spread!! Everything was delicious... from the fresh-baked breads to the jams, yogurt and fresh fruit, along with an abundant meat and cheese selection. Anneliese even offered for us to make sandwiches for the road since she knew we'd be doing some walking and sightseeing that day. We honestly LOVED everything! Anneliese and her family (who have run the Bed and Breakfast for almost 100 years) we the most generous and thoughtful hosts. We will be most certainly be back!! -DanielGuest review bySarahUnited States
- From $766.74 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.2Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 200 reviewsWe had a wonderful time at the property! It was the perfect place for our family (six adults). The kitchen was well stocked so we were able to enjoy breakfasts around the kitchen table and dinners on the well-appointed patio. An amenity we did not expect - there was an assortment of wines, beers, and other refreshments available for purchase which was especially nice on the evening of our arrival. On our second evening there was an issue with not having hot water - apparently the boiler was having technical difficulties. We emailed the owners at 22:30, and by 9:30 the next morning the technician had already been there to fix the issue. The owner's responsiveness was impressive which we so appreciated! The location is amazingly situated - about 25 minutes from Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau (just over the border in Germany) and only about 10 minutes from Ehrenberg castle, fortress, and ruins. Our time at the chalet was magical - thank you to the owners and our host Gerda!Guest review byAnneUnited States
- From $244.06 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.6Excellent - What previous guests thought, 553 reviewsThis is the third time we stayed at this property and will definitely be back. The room we stayed in was newly renovated and very spacious with a double bed and a lounge sofa that could have held another 2 people. All areas in the hotel are very clean, the staff is super friendly and accommodating. We travelled with our small dog and the close by park was perfect for having him do his business. The hotel has a restaurant that serves delicious local meals and the breakfast buffet offers plenty of choices. We usually stay at this property when traveling through to Italy and it's perfectly located only a few miles off the Autobahn towards Innsbruck.Guest review byDianaUnited States
- From $117.96 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.2Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 1,564 reviewsWe enjoyed the stay in Gutzhof zum Schluxen very much since it's located in a calm valley right next to a farm but still not too far from more touristic places such as Neuschweinstein castle or the town of Füssen. The hosts were very kind and welcoming. We liked that we could order fresh Brezels for breakfast and in the evening we enjoyed the Spielzimmer where we played ping-pong. The accomodation also offers fresh coffee and tea, drinks, snacks or even pizza, which you can buy anytime during the day. Overall, I'd really recommend this beautiful place and will gladly return some day.Guest review byMarkétaCzech Republic
- From $205.25 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.7Excellent - What previous guests thought, 284 reviewsWe loved that this place was so kid friendly! There was a play place for small children that our 2 year old granddaughter loved! Our rooms were comfortable. Gabi was so accomodating and helpful! Each morning at breakfast our table was ready for us with a highchair. We enjoyed everything we ate at the restaurant for dinner. I especially loved the spatzle and the wiener schnitzel. While staying here, we visited the Neuschwanstein Castle, Hohenschwangau Castle, Ehrenberg Castle ruins, and the suspension footbridge, and the Hotel Maximilian was a great location!Guest review byLemmonUnited States
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 131 reviewsMy girlfriend and I had a great stay here. The staff is incredibly friendly and inviting. We were tired from our hike, so we didn't get as social with them as I would have liked, but we had nice small conversations together. The atmosphere of the hotel is very cozy and has gentle music playing in the background. The room itself was very clean and nice. Everything was fantastic! I would come back if I traveled to the region again.Guest review byKevinGermany
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.9Excellent - What previous guests thought, 817 reviewsWarm vibes - stayed for our honeymoon and it was exactly the experience we were looking for. Breakfast in the AM was a great way to start the day. Staff was friendly, provided guidance for activities when we inquired. Another thing we loved was the heritage and charm everywhere on the grounds and within the building. Certainly would stay again - this time for longer - we only stayed 2 nights.Guest review byKevinUnited States
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.5Very Good - What previous guests thought, 1,377 reviewsWe used this hotel as a pitstop, it would be suitable also for a few days exploring. The staff were really excellent, both friendly and professional. We had a very lovely room on the top floor with amazing views of the mountains. Room was a decent size with large bathroom ensuite. Restaurant was first class. Free car parking which is always a bonus.Guest review byChrisUnited Kingdom

It is a beautiful area with many nice walks to do. We were there when it was snowing and the frozen ice and snow was beautiful. The ski field is very close by, however the slopes are very challenging and only suitable for those who have grown up on skis.Guest review byReginaNew Zealand - 8.0
I would recommend the high wire for an adventure.
I would recommend the high wire for an adventure. The view of Reutte from above is amazing. And the history of the castle ruins gives an incite to life in the area long ago. There are also very beautiful lakes for walks and the alps for hiking and skiing.Guest review byDiannaAustralia
