The hotel looked comfortable and charming online, but it was even better than we expected. The room was lovely with an absolutely breathtaking view from the balcony, looking up over a green, hilly pasture to the mountain behind. We spent a very long time sitting out there, drinking some wine and watching the horses at the neighboring property graze. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was heavenly after our 6+ hour hike. At night, we left the window cracked and could hear the bells of the cows next door. Dinner was fun and delicious, and breakfast offered a very lovely selection of local, homemade treats. The staff was truly outstanding, with excellent English (though willing to humor my very poor attempts at German) and welcoming, friendly demeanors. The location is really perfect for day hiking, with many major trails passing right behind the property, and the hotel loans out basic equipment like trekking poles and backpacks for free. We really wished we'd booked a longer stay to take more advantage of both the activities in the area and the hotel amenities! Just an extremely short walk to the trails at Hochwirzen. Couldn't be more convenient for skiing. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and the hotel was modern and clean with fantastic views. A great breakfast was included, and you can actually eat dinner at their in-house restaurant. Another great feature is that they have their own ski rental shop on the ground floor. We didn't eat out much as accomodation had a very well equipped kitchen. Public transport was punctual and free with a Sommer Card provided by our hosts. All lift passes that we used were free also. The only cost was a booking fee for getting up to the Schladming Galcier. (PREPARE TO QUE FOR THIS ONE). Be aware that shops are closed for religious holidays etc.Guest review byFitzpatrick - 10.0

One of the most beautiful places on this planet. Easy to get around with the Ramsau am Dachstein Summercard and the bus and gondola systems. Loved the gondola to the top and the Sky walk, the Stairway to Heaven and the Stairway to Nothingness. Also liked Rittisberg and its attractions such as the Flyline, toboggan and High Ropes. Schladming is not interesting place, but the surroundings - yes. You can find a lot of attractions like ferrara, wander wegs, cycle routes, even rafting and places obligatory to visit: Dachstein Glacier, Planai, Reiter Alm (all supported by lifts). Great place for cross-country skiing, walking around, enjyoing fresh air and views of the Ski amade reagion incl. magnificent Dachstein. I enjoyed the area but it was hard to find information about ski schools or guides online. We had some beginners with us and they were unable to ski the icier slopes at the bottom of the hill. I would have signed up for a guide/instructor for them if I was able to get more information. Also need more non ski activities in the area.
