- Scored out of 10, guest rating 9.9Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 13 reviewsThe location was perfect for a romantic and peaceful escape. The design and cleanliness was exceptional. There was a complimentary continental breakfast that was a nice touch. The bath tub was an absolute highlight. So incredibly spacious and beautiful! It was also only a short drive to local sights and restaurants. The sunsets and sunrises were incredible and the perfect spot to see them in all their glory! The wildlife didn’t come close to the villa like I would have hoped, but that’s out of anyone’s control and didn’t impact our stay in the slightest.Guest review byLaraAustralia
- From US$100.53 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 7.7Good - What previous guests thought, 831 reviewsThe room was very clean and spacious (not overcrowded with furniture). There was daily room service, though not necessary. Location was ideal and on a main outlet road but traffic noise was minimal. Parking was inside the motel and right outside the door. The bathroom was a good size with only a small step over into the shower.Guest review byFayellenAustralia
- From US$256.60 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.3Superb - What previous guests thought, 1,158 reviewsThe room was very spacious and had everything I needed: a comfortable couch area, a great kitchen, a warm gas log fire, and a modern and clean bathroom. Close to Daylesford and all the areas you'd want to visit, while also being quiet at night. Easy parking and great communication when booking and checking in.Guest review byCameronAustralia

Loved the trees and plants around the house, it was very warm and cosy, kitchen facilities were great and house was spacious. We very much enjoyed our stay. Just needs a little bit more lighting for reading, but overall it was a wonderful place to get away.Guest review byJennyAustralia - 10.0

Heavy tourist area, parking is atrocious on the weekends but we went to see friends living there and they said it is much better during the week. Shops sell out of food often on weekends we were told. The lake was beautiful and the air smelled like spring, although there is many wattle trees if you have allergies. Many interesting shops and art to see in town. Chocolate factory is great and recommend having a hot chocolate.Guest review byAlanaAustralia - 10.0

Enjoy walking through the stunning autumn colours in your winter coat as you soak in the natural beauty all around. The local eateries are a short drive from local accommodation and are popular with both locals and tourists alike. It's the perfect weekend or week long getaway destination. I love coming to Castlemaine, it is a beautiful town with friendly locals. It has a great theatre/cinema & many artistic spaces & galleries. I love the Fish'n'chips on the corner & the wonderful Malaysian restaurant. The bookshop is a gem & do not forget to take away bottles of the local non-alcoholic apple cider: it tastes of fresh apples.Guest review byEfstratiosAustralia - 10.0
The hotel was beautiful.
The hotel was beautiful. The railway station was magnificent. Both definitely worth seeing. Maryborough is easy to get around. We ate at Bangkok Thai Restaurant. Excellent service at this restaurant and food excellent too. All in all a lovely place to visit.Guest review byCatherineAustralia - 8.0

The resort was clean and tidy, although could use with some updating, it felt a little tired. The spa in the room was by far the highlight, the view looking out the window was peaceful. We were excited to go to the pool and spa area as it looked so good on the website, but we were disappointed when we got there that the spa had been drained and was not in use. We already knew that the day spa area itself was closed for renovations so this just added to the disappointment, and I'm not sure if this was all factored into the cost or not as the room rate was ok but could have been less considering lots of facilities were not in use. Also it seemed odd that the pool area closes at 5pm when the staff go home, bit of a rush to have a swim as check in is 3pm. The meal at the restaurant was delicious but very expensive, I got the steak which was an extra $10 and then sides another additional cost, I felt the steak was overpriced once you added sides. The entrée lettuce gems were divine, and we thought the rolls with entrée would have been a nice local sour dough or similar, but they were just the regular oval shaped rolls that we get at the local supermarket at home. The wait staff at the restaurant were fantastic and very welcoming and friendly. I would suggest getting an upper floor room as you can hear the spa above when you are in a ground floor room, it wasn't a huge deal but just a tip for those who are unsure whether to pay the extra cost, I think it would be worth it and I hope we return sometime in the future and we will do the same. The area is gorgeous, so many great little stops along the way from Ballarat, and Woodend is a cute little town. As the restaurant at the resort wasn't serving breakfast, we went into town to Paysanne cafe and give it 5 stars.Guest review byTraceyAustralia - 10.0

A great place to stay for a visit to the Victorian goldfields area; easy access to all towns in the area and a pleasant town. Some very good dining venues with reasonable prices and some old world charm.Guest review byKenAustralia
