But as soon as you walked in the hotel area and closed the door you could not hear a peep
The room was huge 4 great size beds a beautiful bathroom heaps of fluffy fresh towels
Air conditioning could use a service in room 3 wasn't really cold only cool but that's the only negative
So so good
The food was wonderful in the pub nice cold beers the cocktail page was vast selection
I was just super impressed with the limited amount of noise between the room and the pub so pleasantly surprised 🤨

The accommodation part is a let down. Small dated rooms, very basic bathroom lacking shelf / bench space. Bed is comfortable but curtains above bed let in lots of light as they are not against window frame so was hard to get to sleep with so much light coming in. The Swansea Hotel, RSL and Workers club have great meals! Public Transport runs to Charlestown and elsewhere. Some great Snooker players once lived there, and it was the location of a scene in Mel Gibson's first movie. Because I grew up in lake Macquarie, I have a fondness for the close proximity of lake, bush and beach. Caves Beach villas are excellent for a short stay with your family. You can park your car at your villa and walk everywhere. There is access to the private pool, to Hams Beach, Caves Beach, Quarry Beach and Split Rock. There is a private pool for guest use, and a lovely Bar & Grill on site. Ceiling fans in all rooms & air con in main living area & ensuite. A lovely modern comfortable house. We came down for a work reunion. Had a good look around before heading home and cannot believe how the area has grown after 34 years. Could very easily move to the peninsula if the chance arose. We turned down the room we booked as it was upstairs. The room we were allocated was not refurbished. It was old but exceptionally clean. Bed needs replacing or mattress topper fitted. Fantastic water view from our door where there was a table & chairs, so we enjoyed a drink from there. We were only there for one night & it was close to the location we had to be at 10am the next day. Yes, I would stay again. The cost was very reasonable.Guest review byVicki
