Antwerp is very pedestrian friendly.
Antwerp is very pedestrian friendly. We liked the way bikes and pedestrians mingle, and how few cars there are in the city centre. We always visit cathedrals and had hoped to hear an organ recital after mass on Sunday, mentioned in the cathedral's website. But there wasn't a recital and the cathedral staff were not helpful. The cathedral is, of course, magnificent. The Old Master paintings are well lit. We only had 2 nights and our last morning was Monday, when all the galleries and museums are closed. This was predictable but disappointing.Guest review byValUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Lier is a lovely town, the streets are clean and quiet.
Lier is a lovely town, the streets are clean and quiet. There is a lot of history here and the canals and waterways are very beautidul. There is something for everyone, the town square is surrounded by good restaurants, the buildings are interesting and full of history. If you like walking or cycling there are plenty of well marked trails and an abundance of wildlife in the rivers and canals. You can take a boat trip in the old flat bottomed eel boatsand the guides are very knowledgable and interesting. There are good transport links witht he station being on the edge of town, just a 15 minute walk into the centre. The town Hall is a beautiful building. Everyone we met was friendly and helpful. We will be coming back.Guest review byRos - 10.0

As someone who has stayed at this charming family run hotel I would thoroughly recommend the RS10 to anyone staying in Turnhout. Clean, comfortable and your hosts Fatima and Rubin are lovely folk who look after you so well.Guest review byKennyUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Geel has a rich and varied history.
Geel has a rich and varied history. There was fierce World War Two fighting here a prelude to the massive Airborne operation, the subject of the film "A Bridge too Far". On the other hand the town pioneered the care of the mentally ill in the community as opposed to institutions about 150 years ago. Also has great restaurents around the town square.Guest review byanthonyCanada - 10.0

Brasschaat has great dog walking places which is convenient since we always travel with our dog, it has a classy residential hub, calm and peaceful, and it is still near to the city of Antwerp, making it easy to visit the old city or have business events.Guest review byYvetteSwitzerland - 10.0
Every time I go to B&B Droomzoet it is way to short.
Every time I go to B&B Droomzoet it is way to short. I am either passing through or stopping over from one of my many adventures through Europe, it is always a pleasure to see Isle & Peter. Seems like I have know them for years but I have only visited them on two occasions one just before Christmas last year and one a couple of days ago. This time I brought my friend with me to enjoy the experience and it was a sheer joy to come back and share it with him, as always Isle & Peter were the perfect hosts, didn't put a foot wrong and were happy to chat whenever they had time. The sheer beauty of the surrounding is heavenly if you want some peace and quiet from the busy lifestyle if only for a short break. Can't wait for my next visit to see Isle & Peter again.Guest review byNicholasUnited Kingdom - 10.0

I could have easily stayed another day but two days were fine. I took a wonderful English guided tour at the cathedral with the Rubens’ paintings, went to Rubens’ garden and audio-visual tour-his house is closed for renovations. Went through the Planting-Moretus museum, DIVA museum. Went to the top of the MAS museum. Took a ferry across the river and walked back through St. Anna’s tunnel. I was able to walk everywhere, even from the train station.Guest review byDonUnited States - 10.0

Mechelen is a visually appealing small city with a fascinating history. I have visited two times previously and as it is within an easy train trip of the Brussels airport it is my preferred place to stay before taking a flight from Belgium. It has lots of attractions (climbing the tower in the cathedral is taxing), is easy to walk around and has lots of restaurants. On each of my visits I seem to have been fortunate to coincide with a musical event -perhaps they have a lot or maybe I was just lucky. For beer and whiskey drinkers the local product from Carolus is well worth seeking out.Guest review byAndrewAustralia - 10.0

Lier is a very pretty town with an interesting history and it is only a 20 minute train ride away from Antwerp. It is easy to walk between the various sites like the town hall and the beginnage and the Great Church. There was a small museum near to my hotel with some history and art related to the town that I also thought was interesting. The town arose because of the river around it which still flows through and is very prettyGuest review byDaniel
