From the the moment you go to reception.... Very nice town conveniently located close to the archeological site Perperikon. Definitely worth visiting. Also, don’t forget to visit the historical museum in town, the stone mushrooms and the state parks west of the city. We had dinner at the restaurant Vodenitsata-the food was delicious. Best for eating out is the Emona in the next bay.
Best for eating out is the Emona in the next bay. The fried catfish and the home-made chips are outstanding, as well as the home-made cake. The owner has a new boat and runs lake trips on request. The charge is modest. This is the best way to take in the beauty of the lake and also to see how the exquisite fish is farmed. Orientation is not a problem as there is only one local road connecting Lakeview, the fish restaurant and the local town. Driving back to Plovdiv and Sofia should be simple enough but we managed to take a wrong turn in a village and were off on a wild and bumpy trip through the Rhodopi mountain passes and the Arda river. The town itself might not seem like much, but there are some really nice bars to visit and seriously good restaurants. People speak less English here, but still super friendly. But, the main reason to visit would have to be nature. It is beautiful out there! Be sure to get a 4x4 because roads aren't the best, especially after some rain...I had a normal car and had to turn around quite a few times, but still had an amazing time. So much history as well!
