This is a hidden gem. Staying at Pine Ridge Lodge is like staying with family. I don’t know where to start to describe our experience. Before we even arrived Jose reached out asking what activities we were interested in. I gave him a list and he had everything arranged for us. I literally didn’t have to lift a finger. All of the guides he had for us were amazing. He has towels ready for us when we needed them, breakfast packed for when we had a really early start and everything arranged to a tee. Neil, the owner, is amazing. One of the nicest guys you will meet. So attentive to his guests and his food is amazing. We ate every meal there except one. Every night he made something different for dinner and it was all delicious. On Christmas Day he made a turkey dinner with all of the fixings that was amazing. For breakfast he would ask the night before what you would like. His breakfast burritos are the best I have had. The grounds are gorgeous and the cabins are super cute and very clean. He has 2 sweet dogs Maggie and Morgan that we fell in love with and a cute little girl to at enjoyed chatting with us. The location is out of San Ignacio so I would recommend a car but it’s totally worth it. It’s a slice of tranquility after a busy day of activities. Can’t recommend Pine Ridge Lodge enough. It’s 10 star service!!

The room was so spacious yet cozy. The jacuzzi was definitely a selling point. The staff was courteous and made the time extra special when they facilitated the decorating of the room for a birthday celebration. The food was simply delicious and so flavorful. I was really amazed.

This is luxury embedded in nature. It is beautiful with a lovely pool and wild birds & animals around. The restaurant has the most amazing menu, outstanding quality, presentation & each recipe incorporates a local ingredient, such as fruit, tamarind, & fresh fish.

Such a cute little town to use as you adventure base.

Such a cute little town to use as you adventure base. There are so many different activities and stores that it’s impossible to see and do everything in even a week. Everyone in town is so friendly and I never felt unsafe, even during the late night block party I stumbled on. Watch out for the casino though. They do not like it if you win anything, and they will make sure to finagle the money back. For us it was the ribbon “security” band on the US tender— after we won a few hundred dollars and then started loosing, they made sure to bring to our attention they “couldn’t take the only hundreds we had left” because of the ribbon, even though they prefer and want you to pay in US Dollars to begin with. They made sure this happened only after our winnings were down so that we left in the negative. Other than the casino, which I highly recommend you avoid, this is such a quaint cute little Hispanic town with the friendliest people.

Stayed for 6 nights total: 2 in San Ignacio, 1 at Rainforest Inn on Butterfly Highway, and 3 at the beach in Hopkins. The Rainforest was awesome and we did some cave exploring on tours. My husband and I enjoyed the cave tube float and our friends loved the ATM cave. Of course there are a number of Mayan ruins to explore without having to cross into Guatemala. Belize is a small country but from the Cays to Belmopan city and beach areas the culture is varied. The Garifuna culture around Hopkins is quite interesting and different from San Ignacio, which is more Mayan.

The lodge is in the perfect place to do a variety of jungle adventure tours and activities, especially all the caves and sinkholes in the area, and to explore the Mayan ruins, and to get a real feel for the culture of Belize.

San Ignacio has enough for one to two days of activities for a typical tourist. The Mayan Temple complexes are the main attraction (the one in San Ignacio is easy to reach but less interesting than the others a bit further away). The Iguana conservation project and chocolate making demonstration are worthwhile if you have time. The drive from the airport is not scenic, but it's simple to navigate.

I specifically went to see the Thirsty Jagwar (yummy fruit wines) booth at the Day & Night Market at Mae Gordon Park in Belmopan. It was a rainy day and the grounds were a bit wet and muddy, but there was a good variety of friendly vendors, so it was fun to shop around. They also had a good DJ and live music so it was entertaining as well. There was also a good variety of food vendors to choose from. The highlight of my visit was my stay at the Kiki Witz Resort. It was only 5 minutes drive outside Belmopan. Easy to find right off the highway just past the ArtBox store, but GPS was off. I had the cutest little Glamping Cabin in the woods! I will definetly come back, stay there and do little excursions out from there.
