Hosts were very helpful when we ran into some difficulty with regards to receiving the access code to the cottage. The cottage is exactly like the photos on your site, maybe more spectacular! Very nice town on Lake Huron, great shops and all the services you need. We stayed there because we went to visit some apple orchards to sample their cider products, we hiked in the Blue Mountains and we also really enjoyed Wasaga Beach without the crowds during this amazingly warm off-season (September 2025). Pretty, small, classic Ontario city with lots to see and do. Great cafes, restaurants, independent shops and cultural landmarks (don't miss Manticore Books, Mariposa Market, Gordon Lightfoot trail and the Leacock House). I grew up and lived there.

We started visiting Midland when our next door neighbours moved to Penetang after retirement. They took us around and we discovered an enjoyable corner of Ontario. Love the marina. Great sunsets over the lake. Nice options for dinner. We specially loved Ariston, the Greek Restaurant in Balm Beach. Lakeview is a great place to stay in Wasaga Beach.
Lakeview is a great place to stay in Wasaga Beach. It's right on the beach -- at least a short walk around the construction happening there that will eventually construct a new visitors' walkway that would be great for visitors. There is no beach, anywhere, that compares to the sand that feels so soft walking on it. In summer months the water is actually warm, not cold as would probably be expected. In busy months you'll find the beach swamped by tourists. Staying at Lakeview offers a comfortable place to reside. Rooms have a fridge and microwave, air conditioner and is so close to enjoy the beach and, avoiding the $20 a day that beach visitors pay for parking. I like Kincardine and visited it before. The bad experience was with the Save Inn motel which I do not recommend to anyone! I booked two rooms 12 days in advance and when I got there they had all rooms booked and occupied so I had do return home a 2.5hr trip. It ruined our weekend. Friendly people, perfect summer climate. Unfortunately provincial highway 21 is the main street. Traffic going north and south congests' s everything. Restricted parking downtown. Traveler's using the road need to obey the speed limit's. No sign of the police enforcing speed limits. Port Elgin has a lot of good dining spots, there is no shortage.Guest review byGary
