Neuchatel offers a tourist pass with free entry to many attractions in the canton and free public transport. Note that many places are closed on Sundays and/or Mondays. We made the most of the sunshine by taking a train to Buttes and walking in the mountains above the chairlift (included in the tourist pass), with fabulous views over the lake, the Jura and the distant Alps. We also enjoyed a morning boat trip and a peaceful walk through protected marshland at St Blaise. We loved the food in Himalaya Momo.Guest review byKathrynUnited Kingdom - 2.0
Don't bother going.
Don't bother going. It feels like a travel lodge, cheap feeling. Staff we ok not their fault. Breakfast an uncomfortable disaster. Clearly they are measuring portions and there is next to nothing on offer. I gave up and didn't eat. Really cheap behaviour for an expensive cost.Guest review byDavidUnited Kingdom - 8.0
One of the smallest towns in Switzerland.
One of the smallest towns in Switzerland. Fifth time here, but haven't visited watch museum. As many other Swiss towns it's dying, so enjoy it until it's gone. Less and less people living there. Check a small second hand shop in front of hotel 3 kings - 80% are common household things, but often you can find some rare treasure like 50 years old Swiss knife, portable fondu copper set, vinyls, rare books, cutlery, etc.Guest review byvaldajkoChina - 8.0

Travers is a small town but has everything you need as a traveler (food store, pharmacie, bakery etc...). In Travers and around a lot of activities can be done, for example hiking to Creux du Van, visit of alphast mines, horse riding etc... To reach Travers is very easy by car and there is also a train station which seems to be properly served. If you want to party, it's not really the place since there are not many options to do that. It's a quiet small town.Guest review byBenoitSwitzerland - 8.0

Nicely renovated old building in small valley, near the river in middle of forest. Away from town and noise. Very good starting point for walking around and relaxing .Very good breakfast was included in price, nice restaurant with trout specialities from local waters. Super friendly personnel taking care that nothing is missed. Car is recommended, it can be tricky to arrive without it. Although, there is a train station some 7-800 meters away. Super price/quality ratio taking into account that it is Switzerland. My recommendation to stay, if possible, spring, summer, autumn. Nature at its bestGuest review byZlatko BozicGermany - 10.0

Lovely town on the side of the lake with good shops, restaurants and some historical sights. Beware it is very hilly away from lakeside but public transport is very good. Good location from which to explore the area by road or rail (but rail is expensive). Cities such as Bern and Lausanne are just under an hour away.Guest review byJeremyUnited Kingdom - 10.0

The hotel is situated in the valley of the Areuse with a view on the Creux du Van natural rock formation and easy access to it and the Areuse gorge a little upstream. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming. We chose trout for dinner and were very happy with our meal. Breakfast was just as good with a variety of choices.Guest review byIanUnited Kingdom - 10.0

In summer Neuchâtel clearly has a North-Italian atmosphere to me, originating from the old town buildings, the vibes in the harbour and even home-made icecream everywhere! Prices are better than other Swiss lakeside cities, and the Neuchâtel Tourist Card makes it easy to get around and profit from sights or lake cruises.Guest review byWolfgangSwitzerland
