I was the only guest for the two nights that I was there (mid week in winter), and was given the royal treatment. My room was massive, and the bed was very comfortable. The antique furnishings and fabric covered walls are so special. The bathroom was functional, and there was plenty of hot water. The monogrammed towels were big and fluffy. Meals are served in a spectacular dining room and were delicious. The meals are served on beautiful crockery and with the most delightful antique hand crafted cutlery. I spent 2 days just exploring the surrounding areas. There is beautiful scenery and good bird life. Casa Sliva, a big winery with a good restaurant, is also not far away. They have a chapel on the property and seems like they cater for a lot of conferences and weddings. But it really was the perfect stop over on my way from Santiago heading further south. We came to Rancagua for the major hospital for the area. We were visiting a very sick relative. So we weren't visiting the city itself. As a regional city it has all the usual things. The beach is great and there is an excellent pizza restaurant. There are also plenty of little shops where you can buy groceries or other things you need. It is close to Navidad, where they are more stores and a pharmacy. Tour of the Torreon de Paredes vineyard in Rengo, about 20 minutes north of the hotel. Next time will visit other nearby vineyards including Casa Silva in Los Lingues. We visited several wineries during our visit. We particularly liked Vina Maquis, Estampa, Vina Viu Manet, and Laura Hartwig. We also enjoyed the Museo del Vino and the Automobile Museum at Vina Santa Cruz. It was a worst experience in my life unfortunately. I booked and paid for a deluxe room with balcony. Got standard room without balcony. Feel ripped off. In the evening until 11 pm was a live music so loud that we couldn’t hear anything on TV or sleep. We felt like in a club. There is no sound proof walls for this kind of event. There is no information on their website about very loud live music. There is no vine list. Menu is very poor. Sandwiches and curry on the sea side… We left in the night and prefer drive 3 hours back to Santiago then stay there. Lack of interpersonal skills of manager is absolutely shocking. The city at first was quite disappointing but once we had checked in in our great hostal the owners advised us to take a wine tour and to go for lunch in the beautiful restaurant.. there is also the beautiful village of lolol nearby with 3 museums ( hand craft ,vine and auto mobiles ) and à natural park with indigenous palm trees we didn’t even get around to visit it img .
