Immaculate. Everything is new and in good working order. The rooms are beautiful. The staff so accommodating. We got an upgrade just because, we never even had to ask. The location is perfect. A 2 min walk to line 14 Xeipu station. From here you can access all the attractions. It's quiet here, you can hire Hello Bikes through Alipay. They are about £0.40 for an hour. You can cycle all the way down the park/river edge. No cars there. There is a 7/11 right at the base of the hotel. We had a huge balcony and great views. If I ever return to Shanghai I will definitely stay here. Just perfect. Don't expect great WiFi anywhere really. It's China. The whole country is a bit sketchy for westerners. But it's no bother. Shanghai is an exciting city filled with history, interesting people and food. However be prepared to spent on transportation as some areas are not well connected by buses or the metro.
