I thought to myself that such a hotel must be an outstanding hotel, and indeed I was right. A very High class hotel with prices of an economical one. Your buck goes a long way in terms of: location quality, cleanliness, facilities, comfort, staff and free internet. From the moment you enter you feel luxury, the staff is amazing!! And it is clear that the hotel has a very high standarts of service, the staff really goes out of their way to give you the best experience, and it is clear that the guest's satisfaction is the top priority of the staff. It starts from Galiana at the reception. Carlos - in the dining room Elisabel - the coffee queen... And most of all the manager, Ishmael - What a charming guy, humble, full of kindness, personal charm and willingness to help. We stayed at the hotel for a week, and felt like family. Besides the great attitude, the hotel is beautiful, the service consciousness is very high, the rooms were also large, spacious and clean, and well equipped. There are two wonderful pools. Excellent restaurants - where there is a variety of food and exquisite service. The hotel is in a superb location; 10 minutes drive from the airport, and close to the city center - to all restaurants, travel agencies, shops, and in front of a bank, where there is also an ATM machine. In short, an unforgettable experience. And to top it all off, since we missed a flight, and had to purchase new plane tickets for the next evening - they allowed us to check out in the evening at no extra cost. Nice, simple, comfortable rooms cleaned daily by the awesome staff. Beautiful surroundings, gardens and close to the jungle. Lots of birds, animals, insects around the premises. Just take a flashlight out at night and you will be amazed. Accommodating staff, just ask, they will do everything they can to accommodate the guests. Nice owner is always around makkg sure we were happy with our stay. They offer lots of activities to choose from, all nice and safe. We had the highest room with the terrace in the resort, with beautiful views of the river and sunset. Food is good and traditional/tipical, they make fresh juice with all the meals. All food is cooked daily, my favorite was the fish. But everything is delicious. The town is clean and it's worth exploring on foot, morning, day or night with flashlights to look for animals at night. After a long travel to reach Leticia, I would highly recommend spending a night or two in town before heading out on the river. Amazing little town in the jungle. Get out of Leticia asap and stay there. There are no cars or motorcycles. Only foot traffic on perfectly paved paths. Leticia is very safe and friendly, with plenty of stores, restaurants, bars, cafes, and more. There are plenty of police, soldiers, and coast guard. We walked from the airport to our downtown hotel, but the sidewalks and roads are rough. There are many inexpensive taxis, tuk-tuks, and even moto taxis (motorcycles). July 2022. A special place. Great relaxed vibe. Locals friendly. Very safe to walk around. I’d recommend 3-4 nights to get full experience. Lots of cheap hostel options. We stayed at Refugio Maiku - recommended, but one the pricier options (US$25/day for a private room with b/r). A handful of options to eat. Most restaurants are clustered in one area. Margarita is biggest and has a good lunch buffet (US$5). Dona Luz and Rogelio (cheapest) are also recommended. At night, there is a parrilla in the street where you can get cheap eats. There are a couple of basic grocery stores facing the river where you get water, beer and other essentials. One is open until 11pm. Most tours (“actividades”) you’ll want a guide. Depending on the water level, the tours are very different. I’d recommend a night hike the first day you arrive. Tarapoto is a must. The trip to San Antonio reserva on the Peruvian side and hike to a ginormous tree is also beautiful. We didn’t have time to go, but heard great things about the hike in Parque Natural Amacayacu. Each tour we did was between $12 -$25 but can vary based on group size. When you arrive, you can go to the information booth and get a map and information on tours. You can walk on your own to the Wochine reservation on your own (25 minutes) and see the pirarucu and caimans. You can also walk to Altos de Aguila and see monkeys and parrots (15-20 minutes) Lots of people will offer to be your guide, but best to find someone recommended beforehand or to ask at your hostel. Brandon was our guide for a few tours and is recommended. Tickets for the ferry back to Leticia is behind the malecon.
