We really enjoyed our stay at San Bosco Inn. Not only did they have a swimming pool but we were able to use the hot springs at their sister hotel, Volcano Lodge. Fabulous breakfast. Lots of birds & butterflies attracted to the gardens :)

La Roca Negra is like staying in paradise! The wildlife is amazing, particularly the birds. I saw dozens of species, just walking around, including many humming birds, tanegers, and a white hawk. I also spotted a family of agouti. When the weather clears there is also a view of the volcano.

Extremely helpful and kind staff, beautiful surroundings with vegetation, view directly of the Arenal Vulcano. Breakfast with all possible food (delicious fruit). The room and everything around it is 100% clean, neat and quiet. Nothing less than 10 is appropriate rate for everything here.

We are very lucky to have travelled to many countries and of all the hotels we have stayed in, Noah's Forest is by far #1 for us - it is luxurious and relaxing without being pretentious or feeling exclusive only to people of a certain economic status which these days, is incredibly refreshing to see... The hotel, facilities and rooms are of course all beautiful however it was the staff that really made our stay as wonderful as it was. When we arrived, the lady who first checked us in and the gentleman who later helped with all of our queries were so welcoming, friendly and went above and beyond to help us with everything we needed a hand with - they really are world class. Steven & Dylan in the restaurant and bar were both wonderful too. Each of them at their respective jobs, were attentive, friendly and engaging, taking the time to chat to us, offer their suggestions on the hotel, food, drinks and also local area tips. Usually we don't use hotel restaurants but again, they were so welcoming that we loved spending time there. Even the housekeepers, groundskeepers,kitchen and maintenance all took the time to say hello every time we passed and the gentleman who was checking for litter, when we checked out even took the time to show us where the sloth was sleeping and let us use his binocilars to take a look. It's the little things that really do make a big difference. We will be coming back to Costa Rica again in the furure and will absolutely look to come and stay with you again - in a our humble opinion, a masterclass to all others in how a hotel should look, run and feel. Thank you again - Pura Vida!

Outstanding stay at Amor Arenal. The property exceeded our expectations and was set in beautiful lush gardens. Each casita is completely private and huge with floor to ceiling windows in the shower looking to the volcano (it was completely clouded over the time we were there unfortunately but still was absolutely fantastic). We did the yoga class both mornings we were there with different instructors each day - both fantastic and it was great to do this in the open air covered studio. The pool area and wet bar were an oasis and when the rain stopped we saw lots of hummingbirds, wild turkeys and a boar! The breakfast included was delicious and healthy and we are both nights in the restaurant - also delicious and without fault! Finally the staff were amazing - friendly, attentive and plentiful. Cannot fault this property and experience, we definitely want to come back!

    Arenal Observatory Lodge was highlight of our trip to Costa Rica. Location and facilities are simply amazing. We didn’t expect to lay on our beds and watch volcano and toucans perched on the trees right by our windows! Staff is wonderful. Luis was our driver who picked us up in San Jose and told us a lot about area, tours and facilities during our ride. He was attentive and caring. He also delivered sunglasses we forgot in the shop in La Fortuna, was very kind of him. Carlos from reception helped us to receive our luggage which was delayed by airline. He informed us when luggage finally arrived. Trails are in very good conditions and have protection from rain every km or so. Trails were easy or moderate, so even my mum who is 64 coped with them and truly enjoyed it. Food in the restaurant is very tasty and well presented. Thanks to everyone in the Lodge who made our stay unforgettable!

    Nayara Springs is one of the best hotels we've ever stayed in. The staff were amazing, and the hotel itself absolutely perfect. The room was spotless, the outdoor natural hot spring pool incredible. There is also so much to do on the doorstep, with easy access to Arenal National Park, La Fortuna town, sloth trails, the volcano and lava fields and so much more. I can't stress enough how wonderful a stay we had. In addition there are so many options for food with everything from Costa Rican, to Tapas, to Italian and Asian. We stayed for 8 nights and had the most wonderful time.

    The Gardens and birdlife were amazing. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The food at the restaurant was so delicious, and the complimentary breakfast was exceptional. The jacuzzis were beautifully relaxing, and pool was sparkling clean. The distance from town is several km and a steep walk up hill on your way back, so we hired a scooter to get around, which was good. The bed was comfortable. Amazing open air shower, and a lovely deck off of the room which looked out into the rainforest and gardens.

We were celebrating 1 year engaged and the staff were kind enough to let us check in early and use the installations if we wanted to, our room had a beautiful view and was decorated with balloons for our special occasion, the food was delicious and the service as well.     Very special hotel in the rainforest. Take a 4x4 to get there. The last 3 km is really exciting😄. Do not miss the night tour! Perfect breakfast. Having a shower while you feel like you are in the middle of a forest.

    We enjoyed the area and while we did a lot including driving...

    We enjoyed the area and while we did a lot including driving to Monteverde for zipline tour, we chose one day of pampering rather than adventure so did not hike around Arenal or paddle board on Arenal. We did white water rafting between Puerto Viejo and Fortuna. We did waterfall repelling near Fortuna (amazing). The people are friendly and the area is lovely. We enjoyed a night time nature tour with our hotel (Noah's Landing) and Nayara Gardens was amazing. We saw plenty of sloths but so much more! We went to the Mistico hanging bridges on a rainy day which worked well-it did not matter. We also visited the Fortuna Waterfall (500 steps down-then 500 steps up but worth it!) If you like adventure- there is plenty. If you want to relax-it is a beautiful place to do so.

    Our trip was mostly rejuvenation, health and to access the volcano and hot springs. We went to Arenal park and hiked the trail to the Volcano. We saw a Capibara but most other wildlife is best viewed in the early morning. There were a lot of orchids in bloom along the trails. Going to EcoTermales Hotspring was the highlight. It's a gorgeous naturally constructed spa with layered pools, waterfalls all built with stacked granite rockery, bridges and pathways connect the pools, and there's plenty of seating, an open bar that serves the best mixed drinks. The restaurant served fresh healthy assortment of seafood and meats with veggie dishes with dessert at Lunch. The water was fed from the natural hotspring, which was circulated , refreshed constantly with fresh volcanic water. Attention to the holistic elements of nature were throughout. Staff and Service were top notch.

    This is a great area to experience Costa Rica and the wildlife. We visited Mistico hanging bridges (great with a guide as located creatures we would not have); La Fortuna waterfall (no guide needed); Sky adventures (aerial tram, zip lines & trails); sloth guided tour; Arenal Observatory Lodge & Trails (day pass with lunch) - all of which we would recommend!

    It is difficult to get around in Costa Rica.

    It is difficult to get around in Costa Rica. They have on main major highway and you must get off that highway to get to Jaco and Fortuna. The roads are windy and it takes forever to get somewhere. It took us 3.5 hours to get from Fortuna to San Jose and it is less than 100 miles. This is due to the windy roads which are typically one lane in each direction. However, it is a beautiful drive. Just be prepared! If you are in the Jaco area, do not miss Villa Caletas. Has an amazing view. We stayed at the Marriott Vacation Club at Los Suenos in Garabito. It is a beautiful property.
