The owner and staff are so welcoming and warm, they made us feel right at home! Also, the food is great and the location is also a plus. It is close to Vale do Paul and very easy catch the colectivos to other parts of the island. We definitely recommend staying here.

The peace and energy you can feel here, I have never experienced anywhere. A place where you can only here the birds, the wind an waves. A place with raw beauty, that takes your breath away. The decoration and love for the details are absolutely stunning. The beds are so confortable, the room has all you need, even a small bag to take your towels to the beach. Everything is so clean and well mantained. The Food is of a really high quality and delicious! The bread for the breakfast is served warm with really good jam and butter. Heaven! The Fruits and Juices are delicious! The dinner was everyday outstanding. Sofia and Fernando are passionate chefs! But let’s talk about the Staff… they really are something else and make this place stand out. Rosa is a true host with a big smile, very professional and always looking to please you. Elisangelo, Aleandro and Leo always very kind and with a big smile, ready to fulfill any wish of the guests. This people work with the heart and are so professional, with their big smiles - so contagious! It’s impossible not to carry them in your hearts. To thank them is an understatement, we absolutely fell in love with this peace an people.
The raw beauty of the beaches in the area are stunning, different from Sal Rei etc. but beautiful in it’s own way. With turtles and sharks, you can feel nature in a heartbeat. The Shuttle Service three times a qeek to go to Sal Rei is amazing! During the ride you can always meet locals, which take a ride to Bofareira (a small little village nearby) which is amazing and ecological. This place is really a hidden gem with a special energy and we will return for sure!

I recently stayed at Robinson Cape Verde, and it was truly one of the best vacation experiences I’ve ever had. The standout aspect was definitely the incredible staff—everyone was warm, attentive, and genuinely seemed to enjoy making sure guests had an amazing time. They went above and beyond, creating a friendly, welcoming atmosphere that made me feel at home from the start.
One of the things I loved was the variety of free activity classes available every day. Whether you’re into yoga, beach workouts, or water sports, there’s always something to try, and the instructors are fantastic. They keep it fun and engaging, so every day feels like an adventure if you want it to be!
And let me rave about the food—easily the best I’ve had on the island. Not only is there a huge selection, but everything is also incredibly healthy and tasty. The chefs put a lot of thought into crafting meals that are as nutritious as they are delicious, and you can tell they use high-quality, fresh ingredients. From local Cape Verdean dishes to international options, every meal was a delight.
All in all, Robinson Cape Verde combines the best of everything—an ideal location, excellent facilities, and staff that truly make the experience unforgettable. I can’t recommend it highly enough for anyone looking to recharge in a beautiful, welcoming setting.

The hotel was clean and comfortable. The staff were excellent, especially Nilza. When flying from Fogo to Sao Vicente, the airline left all out luggage on Fogo. We were due to sail to Sao Anteo but decided to rearrange the ferry and stay in Porto Grande to try and let our luggage catch up with us. There were 8 of us and we only booked in on the day of our stay. They were not phased when we arrived with only the grubby clothes that we stood up in and Nilza was very helpful. She liaised with the airline and airports to establish where our luggage was [getting further than we could] and arranged a large taxi for us all to have a happy reunion with the luggage that evening. Wiyhout hteir help the holiday would have been a lot more difficult.

We loved the location of the hotel as it was by the sea with a quick walk into town.
It's the oldest hotel in Santa Maria and full of character and charm. The grounds are spacious with plenty of swimming pool areas and lovely maintained gardens. The restaurants and bars were all well located with excellent food. There is a games room with a full sized snooker table , pool table, table tennis, TV for sports , crazy golf and tennis courts etc as well as many other activities which the hotel provides daily. There is also a gym for the energetic. The staff were all friendly and helpful.

Maury is such a caring man and a great host. He has welcomed us, offered all the information we needed to find a car rental company. He has offered all the possible information we needed for our short stay in Sal Rei (events, bars with live music, maps of the island etc).
We have appreciated very much Maury as a person as well, he chatted with us regarding the Cape Verdean culture and shared useful information for our stay.
The breakfast was delicious.
We have enjoyed very much our stay at this accommodation and we wouldn't hesitate to book again.

An absolutely wonderful time at this property. The staff were some of the best ever. Extremely helpful, friendly and accommodating to all our requests. They went well over and beyond what is usually expected. The property was cleaned every day with fresh towels and linen when necessary.
Not too far from the ocean. Lovely pools and restaurant facilities. It’s a really lovely place to totally relax and chill out. It comes highly recommended.

Fantastic Stay at Hotel Riu Cabo Verde – Relaxing, Welcoming, and Memorable! 🌴
I recently spent a week at Hotel Riu Cabo Verde and had a wonderful experience from start to finish. The location is stunning – right on a beautiful, sandy beach with clear blue waters. Perfect for long walks, swimming, or simply relaxing with a cocktail in hand.
The hotel itself is clean, well-maintained, and designed for comfort. My room was spacious, with a lovely balcony and a well-stocked minibar. Housekeeping did a great job keeping everything tidy and fresh.
What really stood out was the staff – everyone from reception to the restaurant team was warm, friendly, and helpful. They went out of their way to make sure guests were comfortable and having a good time.
The food options were impressive, especially for an all-inclusive resort. The buffet had a great variety with fresh, flavorful dishes, and the à la carte restaurants were a nice change of pace. I particularly enjoyed the Italian and the steakhouse.
During the day, there were plenty of activities (shoutout to the fun and energetic entertainment team!), but if you just want to unwind, the two pools and beach loungers offer plenty of space to relax.
If I had to note anything, I’d say the buffet can get a bit repetitive after several days, and outdoor seating in the evenings could be a bit more sheltered from the wind. But those are small things in an otherwise excellent stay.
Overall, I highly recommend Hotel Riu Cabo Verde for anyone looking for a relaxing, sun-filled getaway with great service and a welcoming vibe. I’d definitely return!

The carnival time is one of the best times to enjoy Mindelo.
The carnival time is one of the best times to enjoy Mindelo. Very colourful, lots of excitement and great atmosphere. You should try the local food, cachupa and the kamoka ice cream. Sao Pedro, close to the airport is a great place to see the turtles. The fish museum is adjacent to the African market where you can get souvenirs.

Sal Rei is he Capitaol of Boa Vista Cape Verde. It is a small city on the water. There are many options for hotel and restaurants. It is tropical in temperature so dress accordingly. Expolre all of the food(restaurant) options as there are many. The beach is fantastic

There are many places to visit at this side of the island.
There are many places to visit at this side of the island. Xoxo, Cova crater, the walk between Cruzinha and Ponta do Sol, Paul valley, Synagoga are all fantastic. If you don't fear heights and like to hike up or down, then you find breathtaking views and hidden gems wherever you go.
Hiking routes are fairly signaled, though we lost the way sometimes - but every time we found something extra, a nice village, terraces, locals working in the gardens or on the fields.
The town is not big, but have some nice restaurants and bars to eat and drink.
Easy to find taxi or aluguer, though not many are running on Sundays.

Lovely small town by the coast close to mountain trails. We stayed 5 nights but would have happily stayed another couple of nights.
Good restaurants in town including an authentic Italian place run by an Italian and serving home-made pasta with tables on his terrace. He has a wonderful model town, that he has made himself, on display for you to look at while waiting to order. Casa Maracuja served good local cuisine and we also enjoyed the food at Paladar where they serve cachupa. We had a rental car, but there were also alughers available for transport to Porto Novo, the ferry port.

Beautiful view of the sunset from tidal pools where you can swim protected from the waves. My host arranged a reservation at a private restaurant in someone's home, with live music. It was delicious and a great experience.
The town is a little dirty. I didn't stay long enough to really know the town, I'm sure it has its gems.

It's wonderful brand new well equipped and modern apartment. For me the location was fantastic. It was meters from the beach and a supermarket and a great local restaurant. I always talked to town to meet the shuttles and drivers for hikes and the ferry.
There is a great balcony - I also cooked and used the washing machine - living room was really wide in comparison to majority of apartment rentals I had. I really loved it.

Perfect base to explore the whole island of Sal. Very close to the airport.
Especially nice experience for me was Pedra de Lume. There are nice and helpful people everywhere. I will certainly come back. Please note that this is not a beach or resort type of holiday like in Santa Maria.

Beirona/ Murdeira is a beautiful place, definitely worth choosing if you want to relax on the beach/ by the pool without crowds of people around you. There’s just one shop here ( it has an ATM which is a huge advantage), but it’s well stocked. If you’re not a fan of big resorts, but want a laid back holiday, be sure to visit.

The first thing to say about Santa Maria is that local people are very friendly and welcoming.
Trips are available for motorised vehicles, sea trips and cultural site seeing.
During the day Santa Maria is very good for watersports and of course relaxing at the beach. There is always wind which helps with the water sport and doesn't cause sunworshippers any real inconvenience. There is a long stretch of beach which is worth walking, it has numerous beach bars which can be relaxing or lively dependant on where they are along the beach.
The evenings are relaxed and mainly consist of dining, dinking, dancing and listening to music. There are numerous bars and restaurants to choose from, both on the main street and further in.
There are many shops and a market to look around but I can't say much about this as it's not my thing.
What I particularly like about Santa Maria is that it is not over developed, although things are moving along. Santa Maria takes me back to a time when life was far simpler and in my opinion much better.
The key thing to remember is that you are in an African country with it's own culture and characteristics, just embrace it!
