Stay near center. Ride E-bike around lake (ca 35 km). Swim in lake! Visit castle but only hike up there if your joints/heart can handle it. It’s very steep and ca 40 min walk up hill. Beautiful town :)Guest review byEmilyNetherlands - 10.0

I followed the tourist information office trail. There are a dozen buildings worth seeing. Because I was only there one night, I didn't have time to go in any but photos, especially of the Residenz interior look as if I would have loved a visit!Guest review byretiredgeoffUnited Kingdom - 10.0

This town in a valley within the Allgau Alps is out of a picture book. We came specifically for the "Almabtrieb" or the "Viehscheid," when the cows from upper pastures on the mountains are paraded down into the valley pastures for the winter. It is a super festive time in Alpine villages, and Obertsdorf really knows how to celebrate with music, beer, food, and all types of festivities. There are many beautiful shops in town, terrific places to eat and drink (everything from cafes to beer gardens to ethnic food), and a state of the art mountain gondola/lift that everyone should take whether for hiking, views, a short walk -- its absolutely breathtaking. This town is what life should be like everywhere. I would note that this town did not feel "touristy" even though there are many visitors to this town, but the tourism is largely cycling/hiking/skiing visitors, so that feels a bit different.Guest review byKimUnited States - 10.0
Memmingen city is a gem.
Memmingen city is a gem. It is only 15 mins drive from Memmingen airport, and the old city is within walking distance of the main bus / train station. Everything is within walking distance, and there are an excellent range of shops, cafes and theatres. Of all the places we have been to in Germany, this was our favourite!Guest review bySarahUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Excellent little Bavarian town.
Excellent little Bavarian town. Surrounded by trails, mountains etc. If you don’t like quiet, then this is not for you. But Oberstaufen is located a short drive from the towns of Lake Konstanz and all the touristy things that you may require.Guest review byMarkUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Hohenschwangau is a very busy and very touristy place,...
Hohenschwangau is a very busy and very touristy place, especially in summer but you can still enjoy the area and visit the castles if you plan things a little. Firstly, I strongly suggest you book your tickets in advance as you must visit the castles at an appointed time. Secondly, in spite of the fact that you only have barely half an hour inside Neuschwanstein Castle and 45 minutes at Hohenschwangau Castle, the lead up times (how long it takes to get there from Hohenschwangau village, and then how far in advance you need to be at the Castle gates), you will find that you will probably take close to an entire day to visit both Castles! Allow at least 3 hours for Neuschwanstein (queue for the bus, walk to Marienbrucke for a spectacular view, be at the Castle entrance at least 15 minutes before entry, 30 minutes for the tour, another 30-40 minutes for the walk downhill), and at least 2-3hrs for Hohenschwangau Castle). While you cannot plan the weather, obviously for the best views over the lakes and the countryside will be in sunshine, but there's no reason you cannot enjoy the castles even in rain or snow, however transportation may be limited in some weather. It's a long slog up the hill to walk to Neuschwanstein (not so bad for Hohenschwangau) so recommend spending the EUR 3.50 per person to take the bus (pretty scary windy drive!) or splurge and take the horse drawn carriage! It's a nice walk down from both castles. Lots of places to stop for a snack or a meal in Hohenschwangau but of course at tourist prices!Guest review byRobinAustralia - 2.0
[12:18] Orecny Peter Worst apt. where I was.
[12:18] Orecny Peter Worst apt. where I was. Dirty and smell. Key box on the ground behind trash can and you will be have a problem with open the key box, because of rust and in a rain also wet. Problem with parking and no internet connection. This place is for animal not for human. Dirty socks front of the door. Used dishes and leave it in kitchen. If you open the fridge, you have a fiiling that there died some animal, not for food. Best thing it was hole in the wall, where you can see out of the apt. and it was not possible to cover somehow. It was fck cold inside, because od this hole. The kitchen is unusable, I don't understand how they can rent it without cleaning, they leave a used fork there. Bathroom, same story, dirty, dust and mold. Go away from here. [12:18] Orecny Peter Nothing was good. I can only say, go away from here or do not make a reservation here. This apt. is really only for animal. Location, not good, problem with the parking. Not internet conection.Guest review byRadkaSlovakia - 8.0

Kempten is a right place to start exploring the Allgaü alps of Germany. You get better stay options here as it gets a bit more costlier as you go down. The town is big and you even have food options late in the night. Also public transportation is available.Looking forward to visiting again in Summer.Guest review bySumithGermany
