Very friendly dutch couple hosting this hotel. Beautiful located and as a political/social scientist I was especially fascinated by the fact that this is just a few hundred meters from the old BRD/DDR-border. Here you can combine nature with fascinating historical sights. Very recommendable

I had half pension and the breakfast and evening meal were top notch.     This is a great little town for walking in the Harz mountains or attending the week long horse racing festival - another must for followers of our equine friends.     Town is full of history with medieval houses and a hilltop castle that is very popular for German tourists. English is not common, especially in restaurant or their menus, so sometimes difficult for non-German speakers. Great place to visit Harz Mountains hiking areas and the Titan-RT suspension bridge and Dam and the Wendefurth reservoir for boating. Harz Railway Steam train to the Broken Mountain.

    A little gem- the inner city and castle untouched by all the wars- it has changed a lot cosmetically since the reunification of Germany - but it's charm has remained. Quite walkable- the only challenging part being the sometimes steep stroll up to the castle. Don't ignore the side streets- there are some wonderful shops hidden away.

The city hall and Kaiserpfalz in town are well worth visiting and Rammelsberg is a must see UNESCO world heritage site. Goslar is an excellent place to stay while hiking or cycling or just sightseeing through the Harz mountains.

    Braunlage is a cute small town in the National Park of Harz.

    Braunlage is a cute small town in the National Park of Harz. It's ideal for skiing in winter, as it is a ski resort, and in spring-autumn is perfect for hiking and cicling. Broken is close by and it's worth the visit. It also has a very nice boulder hall for those that like to go climbing. Also, the cafe of the boulder hall has great selection of home made cakes (vegan friendly, and also good for persons allergic to milk) and the coffee is delicious. Ideal for a break during climbing sesions.
