- From US$459.28 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.6Fabulous - What previous guests thought, 654 reviewsThis hotel is pristine clean, the facilities wonderful, and a lovely location right on the side of the lake. However, what makes the hotel even more wonderful is the staff; they were incredibly friendly and accommodating, delivering an excellent customer service throughout our stay. I think this is more appreciated as we were English and spoke hardly any German, and it was a predominantly German hotel (as we expected). This was the first stop on our Honeymoon, and they were wonderful on upgrading our room so that it had views of both the mountains and the lake, adding rose petals on the bed, they decorated the table formally for our first dinner, and as a farewell they gave us a bottle of sparkling wine. I particular want to identify two members of staff who were particularly lovely ; Lara who was on reception and greeted us to the hotel was very nice and made us feel very welcome. And Sören, who we believe was the restaurant manager, and who looked after us on both evening meals, and whose customer service was outstanding, ensuring we were comfortable the entire time.Guest review byMeganUnited Kingdom

Plus points for us was tesla charger included in cost, we are a family of vegetarians and vegans and we're well catered for. Ate in restaurant for 3 meals, all excellent with great service. Staff very friendly and helpful. We opted for a balcony room for one of us which was amazing with views of neuschwanstein Castle and the lake and mountains. 2 other rooms were without the view but were large and comfortable.Guest review bySarahUnited Kingdom

The staff were very polite and helpful, the breakfast was delicious. They had a good variety of cheese, fruit, yogurt, breads, fresh squeezed juice, a spectacular variety of teas, and many healthy options. The hotel was very clean, the beds comfortable and the shower had very good water pressure. No wifi issues throughout the property. The spa and pool areas were well kept and the towels were plentiful. We cannot wait to go back.Guest review byjoannaUnited States

The view from the balcony is wonderful. Our room was large and very comfortable- I asked for twin beds and got these. It was difficult to climb 2 1/2 flights of stairs every time we went up to our room but the staff took our suitcases up and down for us which was very helpful .Guest review byGideonIsrael

A very interesting historical city, much of which has been lovingly restored after devastating air raid damage in WW2. The Residence I(and its gardens) are well worth visiting, being a smaller scale version of the palaces at Versailles and Charlottenburg. Don't miss the Hofkirche while there. The Marienberg Fortress on the hill overlooking the town offers fantastic views, but is currently being extensively refurbished. It is still worth visiting though. And if you like visiting churches, you will not be disappointed here. Fantastic cuisine and wine available here. we can heartily recommend Aifach Resins and zum Stachel, the former for more contemporary cuisine and the latter for more traditional fare in traditional and historic surroundings.Guest review byDavidUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Augsburg is a very charming city with lots of points of interest and restaurants and caffee's. Don't miss the Rathausplatz, Fuggerei, Maximilianstrasse, Koenigplatz and old city walls. For good Bavarian/Schwaebische Food I recommend Restaurant unter dem Bogen on Annastrasse. People watching and relaxing Caffee Eber am Rathausplatx. Take one of the city tours, organized by the city and raasonably priced. Augsburgs Strassenbahn System makes it easy to get around, buy a "Streifenkarte". Walk around in the Altstadt and around the "Kahnfahrt" and the old city walls- it is just beautiful.Guest review byUrsulaGermany - 10.0

Stay near center. Ride E-bike around lake (ca 35 km). Swim in lake! Visit castle but only hike up there if your joints/heart can handle it. It’s very steep and ca 40 min walk up hill. Beautiful town :)Guest review byEmilyNetherlands - 10.0

I visited Rothenburg 14 years ago & couldn't wait to get back. This time I brought my 2 adult children who just loved it & will be bringing their children one day. Very sorry to hear Anneliese Frieze had passed away. Lovely lady. We walked the whole town, did lots of fantastic shopping. My son & daughter climbed the town hall tower & did the Night watchman walk, which they thoroughly enjoyed. We had our dinners at our hotel, Gasthaus Alter Keller & loved the food & great staff. Our hotel was only 200m to the main square - fantastic position.Guest review byDiAustralia - 8.0
Hohenschwangau is a very busy and very touristy place,...
Hohenschwangau is a very busy and very touristy place, especially in summer but you can still enjoy the area and visit the castles if you plan things a little. Firstly, I strongly suggest you book your tickets in advance as you must visit the castles at an appointed time. Secondly, in spite of the fact that you only have barely half an hour inside Neuschwanstein Castle and 45 minutes at Hohenschwangau Castle, the lead up times (how long it takes to get there from Hohenschwangau village, and then how far in advance you need to be at the Castle gates), you will find that you will probably take close to an entire day to visit both Castles! Allow at least 3 hours for Neuschwanstein (queue for the bus, walk to Marienbrucke for a spectacular view, be at the Castle entrance at least 15 minutes before entry, 30 minutes for the tour, another 30-40 minutes for the walk downhill), and at least 2-3hrs for Hohenschwangau Castle). While you cannot plan the weather, obviously for the best views over the lakes and the countryside will be in sunshine, but there's no reason you cannot enjoy the castles even in rain or snow, however transportation may be limited in some weather. It's a long slog up the hill to walk to Neuschwanstein (not so bad for Hohenschwangau) so recommend spending the EUR 3.50 per person to take the bus (pretty scary windy drive!) or splurge and take the horse drawn carriage! It's a nice walk down from both castles. Lots of places to stop for a snack or a meal in Hohenschwangau but of course at tourist prices!Guest review byRobinAustralia - 10.0

Dinkelsbühl is a beautiful small walled town in Germany along the Romantic Road. I've been visiting and staying there since the mid-1980s. Although tourist crowds have grown significantly over the years, it's still worth a visit. Early mornings and evenings are the best time to walk around, especially if you're into photography. It continues to be one of the most beautiful towns to photograph that I've ever visited.Guest review byRandyUnited States - 10.0
A fantastic medieval town worth a day or two!
A fantastic medieval town worth a day or two! Walk the fully preserved town wall for a unique perspective, climb the Daniel Tower for stunning views, and visit the impressive cathedral. Don’t miss the asteroid museum to learn about the town’s impact crater origins. From March to October, the train museum near the station is a great attraction. And fun fact—it’s the hometown of a legendary football player. Guess who?Guest review byBorisGermany - 10.0

It's a lovely small city with many historic buildings, a thermal bath https://solymar-therme.de/ and several good restaurants. It's easy to walk around in the city centre because there is a car free zone and speed restrictions. The Greek restaurant Zunftstuben Poseidon is very good value for money https://poseidon-mgh.de/ plus all the local bakeries and cafes offer great food. It's a good base to explore the area by car, bike or train. The local wildlife park is interesting for adults as well as children and provides many play activities https://www.wildtierpark.de/. I also loved visiting the Weikersheim Palace and Garden which is only 20min away by car or you could take a train or even cycle along the river on a dedicated cycling path https://www.schloss-weikersheim.de/en/.Guest review byChristineUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Although Landsberg am Lech is a small town with a lot of history. There are a number of walking tours available to be taken on your own or in a group. Information at the Town Hall is provided in English too! Donauwörth is a small town with a charming city center that can be explored in about an hour. The town features 4-5 delightful bridges and scenic viewpoints. However, the most enjoyable part of Donauwörth is probably its walking and cycling paths. If you love nature, this town should be on your list of places to discover.Guest review byMerve YGermany
