- From $216.60 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.8Excellent - What previous guests thought, 2,872 reviewsI'm giving this location 10 stars because I feel like Europeans would find it so - it's a cultural thing as an American to expect different levels of comfort. However, I found our room to be rather cramped and the last room on the top floor, the furthest away from the lobby in what might have originally been the attic - the windows were dormered. The beds were spartan in that sleeping on them was like sleeping on stone. My hips began aching by the third day. The pillows were meager, half size. I had to ask twice before they brought us some extras but in the hotel's defense, my German is deplorable, so it's quite possible I couldn't make myself understood. The bathroom was pretty much the same as any hotel in the US, very small - the bathtub and shower felt like bathing in a coffin. I feel like many of these complaints wouldn't bother most Europeans: they're tougher than Americans are at this point. So I didn't really dock the hotel any points on my ratings for the uncomfortable aspects of the rooms. The breakfast was amazing, and my son and I really enjoyed it every morning. The hotel was perfectly located. We're not Christmas people, so when we booked we had thought the location would be rather empty but to our surprise it was Christmas Market and teeming with people. The parking situation was overly complicated and rather expensive in my mind (16 euros per day) but once again, American coming into a situation with expectations that are probably culturally inappropriate. The bar was nice and relatively affordable and Andreas the bartender was a highlight.Guest review byJohn HornorUnited States
- From $150.45 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.0Wonderful - What previous guests thought, 540 reviewsRoom is spacious with the Elbe river view on one side and the other side facing the garden. Staffs are friendly, location is excellent. Breakfast buffet is great. Only one little mistake of our special ordered bread came out still frozen inside. However the staff helped to solve this soon and apologized immediately.Guest review byPei-ChiGermany
- Scored out of 10, guest rating 7.7Good - What previous guests thought, 1,787 reviewsWe enjoyed our stay at the park. Our kids loved the swimming pool and we really enjoyed the sauna (especially the great 'aufguss' sessions!) . There's a lot to see and do for all ages. The park itself is nicely landscaped and the facilities are clean and decent. Friendly staff and a nice mountain view.Guest review byKimNetherlands

Halle is quite an attractive city with lots of old style buildings and cobbled streets. However it lacks atmosphere and is quite a boring place. We were visiting my daughter who is currently based there working so we had a good time, but it's not a place I would go back to apart from to visit her, and I wouldn't recommend it.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0

This has been my dream city since 1978 and now in 2025 I managed to visit it again. I am fascinated by this town, its pleasant atmosphere. The architecture, the nice shops, the restaurants, the castle, the people, great!Guest review byValmarEstonia - 10.0

I am a history buff, and am quite interested in European history. Quedlinburg, the many narrow cobblestoned streets and wood-framed houses, the great majority of which were fully restored, offers a perfect window into times long past.Guest review byGordonUnited States - 6.0
I went primarily to visit the Bauhaus, the museum and it's...
I went primarily to visit the Bauhaus, the museum and it's related sites. I'm a retired architect and hence arrived with prior knowledge and interest in the famous school. That said, I have doubts whether these offer much to a general audience. Yet, the smaller size of Dessau makes it easy to understand and to navigate on foot or bicycle. A very nice surprise was the lively centrum, the beautiful parks and historic sites unrelated to modern architecture. I borrowed a bike for a day, rode to the banks of the Elbe and the Mulde rivers, and on to the Schloss Luisium. (I had beautiful weather so that undoubtedly added to my enjoyment.) If any of these activities interests you, then it's worth getting off the beaten tourist path and giving Dessau a try. A note to US travelers, not much English spoken here, but folks were friendly. So have a translator handy on your phone and be friendly in return.Guest review byBruce - 10.0
Lutherstadt is a wonderful place and I recommend it to all...
Lutherstadt is a wonderful place and I recommend it to all travellers. The town is peaceful and rich with history. It is also very easy to walk around because there is virtually no cars and the town is flat so walking around is easy. I ate great food and drank great beer as you would expect and attended a service in English at the church where Martin Luther preached. This was a wonderful trip. I recommend 3 days is just about right.Guest review byJamesUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Gorgeous small market town with cathedral, market square,...
Gorgeous small market town with cathedral, market square, and good choice of independent shops and cafes. Being so close to the wine region, possible to have a glass of something very local. I can recommend the Gasthof Zufriedenheit for a very warm welcome. Ideal base for exploring the wider Sachsen-Anhalt and Thüringen regions, with links to Merseburg, Jena, Halle, Leipzig, Erfurt… all very regular from the train station. The old tram is also worth a ride and included on the 9 Euro ticket.Guest review byBenjaminUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Tangermuende has lots to offer.
Tangermuende has lots to offer. The historic downtown is super cute and quaint. There are many restaurants, cafes, ice cream places, and stores to shop. The harbor invites for a stroll. You can go on a boat ride on the river Elbe or eat Greek food on a boat. If you have a car, which we recommend, there are lots of places to drive to and visit. The area offers many concerts and/or other cultural events. We listened to an organ concert in the church. And we went to the thermal bath in Bad Wilsnack.Guest review byAnnie - 8.0
Beautiful and a nice place to hang around.
Beautiful and a nice place to hang around. I cycled along the river Elbe, and took lots of photos of the city. The weather was good, with sun shine and blue sky, so the view was perfect. I suggest people can walk/cycle along the river, from Cathedral to Jahrtausendturm, just be enjoy the cozy. The Cathedral has a total different view b/w days and nights, so go there twice!Guest review byLiying ChangTaiwan - 10.0
Such an interesting city!
Such an interesting city! Two castles, an interesting bar/pub/cafe scene, you can feel the energy and buzz from the young people around the university and art school. Great public transport, a lot of history, and also a wealth of public green areas. The Saale valley is lovely for walks, canoing and boat trips and makes you forget the city with its attractions is just a few steps away.Guest review byLarsUnited Kingdom
