The Akzent Hotel Roter Loewe is much smarter (chic, even) on the inside than ever you'd guess from the outside. The main downstairs room is a bar in the evening (with tables and parasols out the front) and a breakfast room in the morning. It is very thoughtfully laid out and artfully furnished with all manner of pictures and artefacts - must have cost a small fortune. The bedrooms are super smart, too. It's a beautiful city with lots of beautiful old and new architecture. but it's not good if you have a suitcase because it's paved with cobble stones and bricks, which are not good for the wheels. * If you're intending to walk, make sure you bring trainers, and if they are shoes, they must be comfortable too. * make sure you have coins because you have to pay for public toilets, restaurants and coffee shops are strictly for customers only. * bring your own shopping bag or plastic because they are not freeGuest review byWinfredIreland - 8.0

The hotel had an underground car parking facility so we felt our motorbike was safe and not left in front of the hotel. We had to have an evening meal from the supermarket Norma which was below the hotel. Which was very annoying as the pub we thought we were staying at turned out to be a Chinese restaurant that closes on Monday when we were there. We did not want Chinese food or take away piazza. We had travelled too far to get back on the bike to find another place to eat. We travelled down the A8 onto the A7, turned right onto the 10 then right again on the 2023 to get to this hotel or we would have had to pay 2 ULEZ fees to get there as both ULM and New Ulm have fees.Guest review byGillianUnited Kingdom - 6.0

Nice typically German village, very well manicured. Good for cycling. I ate at the hotel restaurant, very busy place. Food was ok, although main course seemed a little cold , I had schnitzel with curly potato, chips would have been better. We were there on a Sunday and there are no shops open in the town. My husband wasn't feeling great and there were no pharmacies nearby. There were also only a couple of choices for restaurants that were open for dinner. While the Hotel Restaurant Austüble has a dinner option, the menu wasn't something we were interested in. We liked the options at the Brasserie Adler, Thalfingen better. A bowl of soup was only $5euros and was plenty for a guy with an upset stomach! Wonderful picturesque town, in particular impressive the "Fischer Viertel" (fisherman's quarter) full of colorful houses which appear to have given in to the weight of time by skewing the orthogonality of their construction. Ulm has many interesting parts, from the market on Saturday, the fishery village and a really great michelin star restaurant bi:braud in the Büchsengasse 20 and of course the Münster. Sadly at the moment one of the nicest museum is closed. There is much to see close by too.Guest review byGisella
